Clair Stephens groaned as she rolled overi n the large bed. She was one a weekend getaway to Las Vegas for a bacloratte party since one of her friends from college was getting married.
It had been years since she had been to Tennessee and when Camille called and said to take some time off and come to Vegas she couldn't help but jump at the chance. Though she would never go back to Nashville. Not even for a visit.
All she knew back in Nashville was hurt and pain. From her parents, and many boyfriends she had she was nothing but a punching bag to all of them and add insult to injury the abuse was verbally, mentally, and emotionally. All because she was a bit of a prude and wouldn't have sex until her wedding night.
When she was eighteen she left for California and never looked back. She had a small one bedroom apartment in Stockton and worked at a massage parlor a bit out in the country close to Stockton called Dosia. She was a receptionist who took and kept apartments and all the other clericle work that needed to be done.
She also cleaned the rooms between appointments. Thus she also did the books. She was a busy body and she sometimes even served drinks at the small bar they had in the main room.
Because Clair was young, beautiful and friendly with everyone the owner's sister was jealous of her. Clair had no idea what the hell Carla's problem was, but she just ignored her and when she was being a bitch she called her out on it.
She got along with all the girls there and some had even tried to get her to relax and party with them. Maybe some aroma therapy. Clair just did her work and went home. She lived like a hermit, and only left for work and to get groceries.
The last thing she wanted was a relationship because she was afraid of them. They hurt. All she had known was they hurt and she was done with being hurt. Breaking out of her thoughts she felt warmth beside her and then she felt soreness in between her legs.
What the fuck? Clair had no idea what was going. It was then she saw the rings on her finger. "FUCK!" she said aloud.
"You okay babe?" looking over she saw this babe of a blond guy.
"What, how? Shit what the hell happened last night?" Clair asked.
"Well my dear last night you became Mrs. Jackson Teller."
"I want it annulled. I want a divorce. Shit I don't do relationships. Ugh I have to get a lawyer. I'll ask my boss to recommend one." said Clair.
"Don't. Please. Can we just talk about this and work something out between us? I really want us to work. My five year old son needs a mom since my ex ran out on us a little over fourteen months ago." the man begged.
"No i'm sorry. I don't do relationships or marriages. Last night was a mistake. Here get in touch with this firm." said Clair as she handed Jax a business card of Mizanon and Mrs. Mizanon Attorney's at Law in Stockton.
Clair quickly got dressed and grabbed her bags before running out of the hotel suite. She caught a cab and went straight to the airport and got the first flight back to Stockton.
Jax Teller had gone to Vegas to deal with some issues with SAMVEGAS. Alot had happned recentally. His mom and stepdad split up after Clay beat the hell out of her. Opie tried to kill Clay for Killing Piney, but they pinned it on black. Tig lost it and had gone after One Niner's leader LaRoy, but had killed his girlfriend instead.
It was just one big clusterfuck. Then he saw her. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen in his life with a group of young women. It appeared to be a bachlorette party. He had no idea how he had even striked up a conversation, but the booze was flowing and one thing led to another and boom they were married.
Now in the sober dawn of light Jax didn't regret a thing. He wanted to bring her back to Charming with her and introduce her to his club and his mom. Though she was insisting that it was a mistake before running out after handing her the card of her lawyer.
Sighing he picked up his phone and called Rosen's firm. He was going to contest the shit out of it and eventually she would eventually break down and give into him, like most women did.
~Stockton a week and a half later~
Clair had hung up the phone after making an appointment for a woman who wanted aroma therapy in the hope it helped kick her sinus infection. She was all for someone trying to go holistic before going to doctor. More power to her.
"So how is it going with your divorce?" Misty one of her coworkers asked her sipping a cup of coffee.
"He is the most stubbern assed man I met in my entire life. I swear I'm spending half of my paycheck on legal fees." said Clair.
"And that's why you have been pulling eighteen hour shifts?" Mindy another girl asked.
"Where the hell is Sara and Stacy?" Carla asked storming in. "They have breakfast appointments at the Hilton.
"Try Nero's room. The girl he brought with her the night before was a little bit drunk and wild and I think a foursome went down." said Misty.
"Get back to work." Carla snapped storming out.
"Someone needs to get the stick out of her ass because it's is lodged in her throat." Clair muttered under her breath.
"Damn someone needs to get laid." said Mindy.
"No thank you. I can live without it." said Clair as the phone rang. "Dosia how may I help you?"
"Is this Clair Teller?" a woman's voice asked her.
"It's Clair Stephens actually. What can I do for you?" she asked.
"I'm Ally Lowen, your husband's attorny. Do you think I can come by your place of work to go over the divorce. Jax is contesting it completely." she said.
"Fine come by. I'll call my lawyers also and have them meet us." said Clair.
"Okay. Mr. Teller has some business so he won't be able to make it." said Ally.
"Alright." said Clair ending the call. Picking up the phone again she called her lawyer. "Hey Mike could you come by my place of work. My estranged husband's lawyer is coming by to discuss the divorce. He is completely contesting it." she said.
"On my way. See you in about an hour." said Mike.
"Sounds good." said Clair hanging up as two indivduals came in. One looking worse for wear.
"I cannot believe a bagged a spic pimp." the woman said. Clair to tell she was completely hung over.
"I prefer companionater. I'm all about the love. Though I bagged a cracker MILF, but I'm fine with it." Nero said back.
"Damn ya'll! Cracker MILF, Spic Pimp. Maybe you two need to go back upstairs. Sounds like you are having the kind of morning I'm having." said Clair laughing a bit.
"What's going on mano?" Nero asked.
"He's contesting. So his lawyer and my lawyer are meeting me here. He has business, and can't make it so he's sending his lawyer." said Clair.
"Why don't you give the guy a chance. I know Vegas sometimes happens, but it turns out to be the best thing ever most of the time." said Nero.
"I don't do relationships. All I've known is hurt, so I'm not going to even try. I'm done being hurt." said Clair.
"I here you there baby. A few weeks ago my husband beat the shit out of me the first and last time ever. I kicked him out of my house afterwards. Though I'm willing to try again for the right person." said the woman.
"That's the difference between you and me ma'am. It's all I have ever known back in Nashville. I moved to Cali for a fresh start. My entire life was hurt unless I was with Millie. Then I went to her bachlorette party in Vegas and here I am now." said Clair.
"It's Gemma, not ma'am. I'm I need to call a cab. Can i have the address to give the cab company." she said.
"I thought your name was Rose." said Nero.
"Sorry." Gemma said. Five minutes later she left and Clair was at the computer doing spreadsheets.
"I hear you have been working eighteen hour shifts." said Nero.
"Most goes to legal fees. This divorce isn't cheap and it's even more expensive when he keeps on contesting." said Clair.
"Go to my apartment and take a couple hour nap. My sheets were changed so you don't have to worry about that." said Nero.
"Thanks boss." Clair said hugging him. She loved her boss like a father figure. He was genuion and caring and understood hardship. He told her all about his struggles with addiction, and that it was partly his fault his son was special needs. She told him about all the abuse she endured from her parents, and past boyfriends back in Nashville before she up and moved to California four years before when she turned eighteen.
