So guys this is my first ever fan fiction so please go easy on me. Obviously I don't own the rights to TCR or any of the characters. This takes place right when Haru is close to the top of the tower.
Notice! Some changes were made to the story, it was originally going to be a BaronXHaru story but i decided against that for something better. Because of that there are small changes to the original story.
Haru raced to the very top of the tower as fast as her half cat legs could take her. Two flights left. One flight. Five more steps...
"YES! I made it! I made it!" Haru could not contain her joy. She wouldn't have to marry the Cat King. She wouldn't have to be stuck a cat forever.
'However, I wouldn't be able to see my friends here ever again,' she thought, cutting her joy short. 'Even if I could, it would never be the same between us. Maybe I should stay a cat…'
This thought was interrupted by more fur growing all over her body. She decided that it was time to go back through the portal and back to her house. Back to her boring, normal life. She pulled herself through the magical portal, but gasped when she looked around.
'It's already dawn,' she thought to herself sadly, 'I was too late. It was true, the sun was already about halfway above the horizon. She sat there, on top of the skinny tower, crying. Then, a thought occurred to her. 'Now I can be with Baron,' she processed, 'but what if he doesn't want to be with me?'
While she was busy contemplating her situation, she didn't notice that her fur was shrinking, her paws were changing back into hands, and her ears slid back down to the side of her head.
"Oh good, you made it out in time!" a voice said behind her.
"What are you talking about," Haru replied to the voice, a voice she didn't even have to turn around to know who said it. It was Baron.
"You're back to your normal self,"
She looked down, and noticed that he was right, mostly.
"Height is still a problem, but I bet that will be fixed soon enough. On the bright side, Toto can now transport you and me safely down. Not that we couldn't before, but this just makes it easier."
"What about Muta? How will he get down?"
Toto, who had just arrived when Baron explained the plan, laughed at the question. It took him a whole 10 seconds to answer with a vague "We have our ways."
They hopped onto Toto's back and flew down to safety. However, halfway down their descent they heard a loud scream.
"GET OF ON ME YOU BIRDBRAINS!"
Haru turned to see Muta dangling from the claws of 3 separate birds. While Baron lectured Toto about how Muta should be treated like the rest of them, Haru couldn't help but chuckle at the sight. That changed, however, when she felt herself growing back to her normal size. Luckily, they had just landed on top of Haru's school.
"Thank you for helping me," Haru said sincerely.
"The Cat Bureau is always open to those in need, and maybe those that just want to stop by and chat as well." Baron replied with sincerity in his voice.
"I'll keep that in mind."
And with that, they took off, without Haru of course. Baron was still on Toto's back, but Muta was being carried by Toto this time. He wasn't happy about how he was treated and said some things that weren't friendly to him. All Haru could do was stand and watch.
"Baron! Thank y-" it was no use. He couldn't hear her. But unbeknownst to her, he did hear, and hearing that brought a smile to his face.
This is NOT a one shot. Also sorry for the short chapter, it just makes sense to have this one and the next as separate chapters. Please review and tell me if you like it!
