Hi, MetaDawnKnightMistEon here! This is my first story ever, so keep in mind it is far from perfect. I would also appreciate some compassion,(a little grace never hurt anyone, right?) so keep an open mind while reading please! Enjoy!
Hilbert's POV
Hilbert's eyes gleamed. He had waited so long for this moment. The moment when he would battle Alder, the champion, and beat him with his most loyal Pokemon.
Everything he had done, everything he had been through, it all matters now. He can't mess up. "I won't mess up." He told himself. "My Pokemon are really strong; I know I can't loose!" This moment is too important and everything came down to this.
He squeezed one of his Pokeballs tightly for reassurance. "Go, Pokemon!" He yelled, letting his Pokeball fly from his hand. Out came his most trusted friend, his-
Beep beep beep! Beep beep beep!
Suddenly awake, Hilbert groaned sleepily and smacked the snooze button on his alarm clock. He sat up for a moment, the rest of his dream fading. He looked around his room, before deciding that getting out of his warm covers would be too hard. He collapsed into his bed again, pulling his covers over his head.
"Just five more minutes..." Hilbert thought before closing his eyes and falling asleep once again.
...
"Hilbert? Hilbert! HILBERT!"
Hilbert rolled in his bed. "What?" He yelled, opening one brown eye. His friend, Bianca peeked her head in his room. Her bright green eyes held an unusual glare.
"Um... we're going to be late to Juniper's if you don't get out of bed!" She pouted. "And I thought this day was important to you!"
Confused, Hilbert turned to his calendar. His eyes widened when he saw what day it was. "Oh, crap!" He sat up suddenly and jumped out of bed. "Bianca! We gotta go!"
Bianca rolled her eyes. "That's what I've been trying to tell you!" She turned around and started walking to the door. "Get changed and come down stairs quickly; we have to leave in five minutes!"
Hilbert threw off his covers and made a beeline to his closet as soon as Bianca closed the door.
He threw his pajamas onto the ground and grabbed a black shirt. His hair was a mess, so he picked out a hat to cover his hair. He checked the mirror after he got changed he ran for the stairs.
Once in the kitchen, his mom handed him a backpack and a blue sweater. "Bianca is already outside." She said, giving him a quick hug. "Have fun learning about all the different kinds of Pokemon!" She called, waving her hand at him.
Hilbert ran down his sidewalk, his sweater dragging across the side walk. He picked it up and quickly managed to zip it up to his chin.
Bianca was already waiting for him, her hands placed neatly on her broad hips. "Good! You're finally here!" She said, smoothing her skirt. "Cheren is already at Professor Juniper's, so we'd better hurry!"
He nodded at her, and the two sprinted down the street. Luckily, the Professor's lab wasn't far from his house, so he and Bianca dashed into the lab, not as late as Hilbert had thought he and Bianca would be. They stood panting for a moment.
Cheren was leaning against a desk, his eyes amused. "You two could not be on time if your life depended on it." He combed his short hair with his fingers. "Juniper and I had been waiting here for about half an hour." He toyed with his glasses. "I thought you guys had better manners than what you've displayed for the Professor." Hilbert glared at his friend, biting back a sharp retort.
A tall woman stepped out from around a corner. "It's alright, Cheren. I'm not easily angered." She had pretty green eyes and a bright, smiling face. She walked over to Hilbert and Bianca. "I'm glad the two of you could make it." She smiled at them. "I'm Professor Juniper, and I'll be giving you all your starter Pokemon." Hilbert felt himself calm down. The Professor's easy tone lightened his mood. "Get comfortable; I have extra information I have to put onto your Pokedexs." She turned to go back to her work. "Normally," she added, "I only have three new trainers, but four of you won't be a problem."
Hilbert felt his smile vanish. He watched the Professor leave, before turning to Cheren and Bianca. "Four?" The two exchanged guilty looks, but, for once, neither had anything to say. "Aren't there only three of us?"
Silence.
It stayed that way until Cheren spoke up. "Well, you see..." He trailed off awkwardly. "W-we didn't want you to be... disappointed..." His voice trailed away guiltily.
Bianca wailed suddenly. "I'm sorry, Hilbert!"
Hilbert was about to ask why she was sorry, but an angry cough cut him off. Dread filled Cheren and Bianca's faces as the trainers turned their attention to a door. In the threshold stood a young girl. He recognized her instantly. "Hilda..." Hilbert locked eyes with her, anger pounding at his chest immediately.
"About time you noticed me." His rival leaned against the frame of the door. "Slow like normal, huh?"
Hilbert's heart quickened and his face burnt at the insult. He managed after a moment to choke out a few words. "Why- why is SHE here?!"
Just then, the Professor walked out from around the corner. She beamed when she saw Hilda. "Oh good, you're back!" She rushed over to her. "Thank you so much for running that errand for me."
Hilda nodded, her voice becoming silky. "Anything for you, Professor Juniper." She purred. The Professor beamed at her. She turned back to Cheren, Bianca, and Cheren.
"Now, let's get started!" She rushed across the room, leaving Hilda at the door. She stopped next to Hilbert and smiled at the new trainers. "I hope you're as excited as I am!" She started, before realizing Hilda was still at the door. "How about you join us Hilda? I know you are dying to get you're new Pokemon, also!"
Edit: Okay, I know this chapter is pretty sketchy, but hopefully you think the next ones are much better! Personally, I think they improve, but I want to hear what you think! Please review!
