Mika's POV
I was on my way home after a day working in the CCG office, Thoughts were flowing endlessly trough my head
''am I going to be alright?''
''Can I really do this''
Tomorrow I was going on my first real mission in the field, and an attack on a aogiri base nonetheless, the biggest ghoul organization.
The team leader told us about the mission today, apparently it a very small place they just established, in the outskirts of the 11th ward. It's our job to take it down as the first step to regain control over the 11th ward.
I try to clear my head, as I walk in my apartment and throw myself in my bed, I have to get some sleep before tomorrow.
Ayato's POV (The next day)
''ugh, why do I have to be in this shitty place with all these armatures'' I mumble to myself. Most of the order is on a mission in the 12th ward, while I have to stay back in this shithole.
''one of us has to stay back and watch the base, in case we get attacked'' Kaneki says in his annoying expressionless voice
''why would anyone attack this pathetic excuse for a base, let them have it I don't care''
Kaneki walks out, and I turn around and go in to my room, not that there is much to it, a desk and a mattress, that's it, but at least I can get some peace, it's too early for me to care. I lay myself down on the mattress, I don't close my eyes, I just stare at the celling
''stupid brat, he thinks, he is something, he thinks, he is better than everyone, while pretending like he doesn't care about anything''
''Dam that kid pisses me of!''
Mika's POV (meanwhile)
I'm sitting in the vehicle with the other member of my team.
I am the youngest and most inexperienced out of the bunch, probably out of the whole force on this mission.
'' are you nervous?'' Rin asks me, my team leader
''Yeah, a bit''
He smiles at me
''don't be it's a small base, and there is a lot of strong people in the force, it should be a fairly low risk mission, just think of it as a good way to get some experience in the field, besides you did excellent in the training tests''
I calm down a bit, it's not like they expect much from a rookie anyway, so it's not like the mission comes down to how well I do, they brought plenty of experienced people for the job, but I still can't let my guard down this is ghouls we are fighting, this will also be a good opportunity to show off to my superiors if I do well.
We are almost at the base and I start to mentally prepare myself, this is it.
