Chapter One

Escape to Forget-Me-Not Valley

I made my way down the long passage that led me to an odd little village. My sense of smell kicked in and I could instantly tell there was a farm nearby. I walked past a couple people who did nothing but stare at me. Well, I don't blame them, I do have cuts all over me and I am bleeding. I'm hoping there is a doctor nearby. The one in my own town is too infatuated by all the girls. Pervert.

Oh yeah. I almost forgot, the reason why I have cuts and bruises and all that junk. My boyfriend is abusive. It's actually kind of odd. He comes off as cute and innocent, but inside he's like the devil in possession. His name is Cliff. Cliff didn't cut me though. I did. I've been cutting for a while now. It's like a potato chip; I can't stop at one. I don't understand why he'd do something like that. I guess it's true; you can't judge a book by its cover.

I see a yellow-skinned man, who appears to be a doctor. I run to him, hoping inside that he is a doctor and that he can help me. I have a feeling that Cliff is tailing me. I need to get to safety fast.

He turns a corner and by the time I get to it, I cannot find him. Perhaps he had entered one of the houses. I peer through the window of the first house I see. I know that's rude, but I can't help it! My life is at risk. Not there. I peek past the corner and spot Cliff. He's filled with rage. I don't care if I end up in jail. I don't care if I cause a disturbance. I don't care if I infuriate the owner of the house. I open the door and hurry to slam it shut. I guess I was wrong, the doctor is inside.

"Are you new?" he asks, starting to walk towards me. I throw myself into a corner.

"Please let me stay here until my boyfriend is gone!" I cry. I know this makes me seem strange to the man, but I don't care. I might die if Cliff finds me.

"What's going on?" he asks, crouching beside me.

"He's trying to kill me." I say, with no expression. This is mainly because I see Cliff standing at the window peering inside.

I'm doomed.
