"We should stay here, forever," Ygritte whispered into Jon's ear. His eyes met hers, and he caressed her face once. The hand was warm with a hint of fear.

"I . . . can't," Jon said sulkily

"Why not? You are a freeman, Jon Snow." Ygritte said.

"Well, I can't," Jon said, obstinately.

"You know nothing, Jon Snow."

"Why do you say that to me? I know how to hunt, fight, and pleasure you. Is there anything I lack?"

"Yes, there is."

"And what will this be?"Ygritte looked down at the cave-floor. She picked up a rock and threw it into the stream lapping against her feet.

"I know you're a crow."

"You mean, I was."

"You and I both know that's not true. The blood of the enslaved, the restricted, courses through your veins. You may not be a Stark, but you are still as loyal as the freefolk say they are. " Ygritte turned back towards Jon and looked into his eyes. She saw one teardrop run down his cheek. His eyes enlarged, and his ears red - all his other facial features pale.

"Are you going to tell Rattlebones? Or are you going to keep quiet until you can sell me to Mance?" Jon inquired solemnly.

"I didn't make the offer to stay in the cave in vain. We freefolk mean what we say. I want to stay here with you. I am a freewoman as you are a freeman in thought."

"What will we do in this cave? Starve? Freeze?"

"Make love."

With that being the last of her words for the night, Jon grabbed her in his arms and made love to her, just as she suggested.
