Archie slowly stepped into the diner. It was far too early for any other patrons to be in. It was barely after six, the diner opened. Ruby was at the counter, looking more dead than alive. He slowly stepped up to her, fiddling with the buttons on his coat,

"Ruby?" She looked up and mustered a sleepy smile that stopped his heart,

"Hey Archie. What can I get you?"

"Nothing. I, uh, I actually had a question for you." He stood awkward for a second, Ruby waiting. Archie cleared his throat, "Would you like to go see a movie? With me?"

"You mean, like a date?" clarified Ruby. Archie nodded. Ruby's smile brightened,

"Yeah. When?" Archie let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding.

"Would Thursday work for you? What do you want to see?"

"Thursday's great. We could go see…" Ruby blushed, "Could we go see 'Hotel Transylvania?' Please?" Her eyes sparkled with excitement and Archie could hardly say no,

"Of course. Should I come pick you up around 7?" he asked. Ruby grinned,

"Yeah. I'll get Granny to let me go early." she said. Archie nodded,

"Right. So I'll see you then?"

"Yeah." Said Ruby. Archie bobbed a bit awkwardly, leaving with a smile on his face. He couldn't stop whistling as he walked to the office and if he twirled his umbrella once or twice, no one saw him and no one could prove it.
