A/N- I came up with this while thinking up chapter 9 for Test of Love. This is set after Why?

It's been a while since Toph and Aang got married, and many people aren't happy about it. Sure, they were happy that Toph had finally "gotten in her rightful place," but they weren't happy that it was with the Avatar.
Some of the things they would say were…
"The Avatar's too good for that spoiled brat."
Or…
"She doesn't let him have any free will!"
Or…
"I bet she forced him to marry her!"
Both had been good at ignoring these things, but one day. A comment he heard just struck a nerve with him.
It happened a couple of weeks after it was announced that Toph was pregnant with the very first child of an Avatar. She was so happy about it, but sadly, not everyone was.
Aang came home to his pregnant wife one day to find her crying her eyes out. He ran over to her and wrapped an arm around her.
"Toph, sweetheart, what's wrong?" he asked her.
She said nothing, just pointed to a scroll next to her.
He picked up the scroll and read it to himself.
To Toph Beifong,
You are horrible scum. The Avatar shouldn't have to go through the torture of having you for a wife.
I heard you are pregnant with a child. Well, I hope you and your brat die during the childbirth. That brat doesn't deserve to see the light of day, and neither do you. You deserve to be blind, to not be able to see the wonderful colors of the world.
Aang stopped reading the horrible letter after that.
"Toph, I'm so sorry," he told her.
"How can somebody be so cruel?" she asked.
"Because they have no life, they just like putting other people down. It makes them feel better about their own life," he told her.
"But Aang, what about the baby? It shouldn't have to grow up in this society. What should we do?"
Aang thought about this for a minute. "Maybe… maybe we should leave."
"Leave? Where would we go?" she asked him.
"We could go live with Zuko and Katara in the Fire Nation. I'm sure they won't mind."
Toph nodded her head slowly. "Let's go."
