Carissa Meets the Babies
"I'll get it." Jackie said as she got off the couch to answer the door after the doorbell had rung.
"Who is it?" Jackie asked.
"Carissa." Jackie opened the door.
"Hi, it's so good to see you." Jackie told her sister.
"It's good to see you to, and I am so excited to meet the little ones, I couldn't wait to get over my cold so I could come over."
Jackie smiled.
"Hi Zachary." Jackie told Carissa's son as she gently tousled his hair.
The little boy grinned at her.
"Baby." He said as he pointed to Ryan, who Jackie was holding in her arms.
"Yeah, he is a baby, that's your cousin Ryan." Jackie answered.
"He is adorable, look at all that hair." Carissa gushed.
"Thanks, yeah he's got a lot of it."
The sound of a baby's cries filled the room.
Zachary looked down at the baby and was confused, the baby wasn't crying.
"I'll get him." Jill said as she hustled into the room.
"Thanks Jill." Jackie said.
"No problem, hi Carissa."
Jill said before she went over to the bassinette and picked up Boone.
"Hi Mrs. Stokes." Carissa answered.
"Nudder one." Zachary said happily as he pointed at the baby in Jill's arms.
"Yeah, there is another one, his name is Boone, and he's cranky." Jackie told her nephew.
"Him loud." Zachary said as he covered his ears.
"Yes he is." Jackie told him before she turned her attention to Carissa.
"My kids always cover their ears too." Jackie said with a laugh.
Carissa set Zachary down and he toddled off to find Jasmine and the other kids.
Jackie and Carissa sat down on the couch and Jackie handed Ryan over to her.
"Where's Nick?" Carissa asked.
"He had to go make a quick diaper run, he'll be right back."
Carissa peaked over at Boone who was now content in Jill's arms.
"I can't believe how different they look, but they are both absolutely adorable."
"Thank you." Jackie told her.
"Are they good babies?" She asked.
"Ryan is a dream, Boone is a challenge, he cries non stop if he is put down, he constantly wants to be held if he is awake." Jackie replied.
"Hi Carissa." Nick said as walked into the house carrying a huge bag of tacos.
"Honey where are the diapers?" Jackie asked.
"Oh shit." He said as he immediately went into the kitchen, set down the tacos and then left again.
Jackie and Jill burst out laughing.
"Sleep deprivation can do weird things to you." Jill said after she had quit laughing.
Nick came back not long later and everyone had dinner together.
"Jackie if you guys need any help you let me know ok? I'd love to babysit sometime." Carissa told her as she prepared to leave.
"Thanks Carissa, I might take you up on that." Jackie responded.
"Say goodbye Zachary." Carissa said as she walked towards the door with the little boy in her arms.
"Bye." He said with a grin.
"Goodbye sweetheart, thanks for coming to visit us." Jackie told the young child.
Carissa and Zachary then left. Jackie enjoyed getting to see her sister and nephew, she hoped now that Carissa was over her cold they'd come over more!
