I didn't listen when they told me it was my destiny.
I didn't listen to my teachers when they told me we were protecting the world.
I didn't listen to my superior when he pointed the gun at my face and said he would have to "put me down" if I turned on the institution that had brainwashed him.
I didn't listen to the lies on the news, or the Academy-sponsored stories of heroic Hunters allegedly saving mankind.
Slaves, all of them. Sacrifices.
So now, why, am I listening to these mad, twisted fools who demean my every accomplishment? After I brought down one of the institutions of their tyranny? All because I was injured by the sorcerer's favorite slave.
The scorpion is harmless with his tail docked by the slave. All it took was a bit of training my ravaged throat, and I was able to convince him to end his now-meaningless life. The liars at the academy were right after all when they told me I had a silver tongue.
I saw her watching me from the doorway of his chambers, licking her cold, dead lips as she swallowed the pain and misery of his suicide. I feel no such joy at my task, despite the…thing attached to me, eating the rotting flesh away from my arm and healing my torn body.
The doctor was next. I know little of where he made claim to such a degree, but whatever it was, combat experience was never a part of it. With a single, prolonged touch, I dissolved his body to ashes. Seems the arrogant fool never even bothered to train his Aura. Before he was consumed by the fire, he stared at me and gasped,
"C-Cinder…is this her command? I should have known…You were always her favorite…"
And sure enough, I could feel her approval and her demonic form absorbing his pain, and my anger, from above me in the meeting-hall.
The brute was the last. I considered sparing him, as his connections with the tyrant would prove a valuable resource, but whatever he knew, I could easily obtain from the records on his Scroll. Despite his impressive strength and powerful Aura, his weapon had no chance of reaching me as I hovered dozens of feet above him. The Maiden's fire burnt in my eyes as I bent the currents of the wind running through the castle's halls to hold him in place. I let out a scream as I fired a jet of magma directly into his pinned form, incinerating him in an instant.
"Well done, Cinder." came a voice from below.
I descended slowly to see my savior standing in the entrance of the training-hall, with a look of joy and elation upon her face. By her side were the assassin and the thief, in awe of my newly rekindled power. With a snap, my lover appeared next to them. Alighting upon the ground, I ran to embrace her.
As Neo and I grasped each other tightly, my savior spoke once more.
"I assume you are prepared for infiltraition the next academy? We now have the a mole in their cabal through the new headmaster."
"I'm ready, my queen. And I will let no one stand in my way."
