The Bench
Shrek sighed as he sat down on the wooden bench, he rubbed his knees with his hands and squeezed them a little. He turned his head to his left and whispered "Fiona's pregnant..." Queen Lillian gave him a small smile and rested her small, delicate hand on his shoulder. "It'll be fine Shrek, you'll be a great father." Shrek shook his head "No. I-I don't know how to be a father? I didn't have a dad growing up, and the only real dad I've ever had just died! I don't know what to do?" Lillian smiled at him "What's the smile for?" Shrek asked, she rested her hands on her lap "You sounded just like Harold when he found out I was pregnant with Fiona. Once I told him he fainted." Shrek laughed "Really?" Lillian nodded "Yes. Then he woke up, I told him I was pregnant again. And he went off just like you. Saying he didn't know how to be a father, but once Fiona was born and I placed her into his arms he...he smiled and whispered 'I'm a daddy.'" Lillian wiped a tear away from her cheek and smiled "That's when he realized he'll learn how to be a father, just as I leaned how to be a mother.". Shrek smiled and looked at his mother in-law "Thanks mom, that really helped me." Lillian nodded and kissed Shrek on his cheek as she walked away from the bench. His eyes followed her until she was out of sight, Shrek then looked up and through the stormy clouds the sun came shinning down on him. "Thanks dad." he whispered and walked away from the bench as well.
