Pardon for the length, I usually don't even consider posting if the FanFic is under 2000 words, but seeing as this drabble couldn't be much longer since it's based on a joke I let it slide.

Also, please note I mean no offence. I adore Haldir who oddly enough is more movie!Haldir than Book!Haldir so if that annoys any one, I AM sorry.

I own nothing, the wonderful character(s) and lovely world belong to the eternally talented J.R.R. Tolkien.

And the joke is also not mine but I have no idea who started it.

Enjoy.

The rain whipped past, biting through Haldir's clothes; his last defense against the wind and rain. The march Warden had been sent by his lord and lady to finish up dealing with the nearest of the Dwarves settlements. So to top off being cold and wet and far from his forest he also had to deal with Dwarves. As a rule Haldir didn't like beings other than Elves, and he sure had a sore spot with Dwarves.

It was at least to say Haldir was not pleased.

Throwing a bitter glance and the nearest Dwarf, who happened to be training a much younger Dwarf. Feeling an extra catty mood slip over him, Haldir slunk up to the duo when they had stopped exchanging blows. The pair looked at him warily, more than likely due to the grin that had made its home on the Elf's face.

"I have a question smith master" Haldir started, letting his eyes trace the weapons the two still held tightly. "Why is it you make your weapons so beautiful, yet your children so ugly?"

Contrary to what Haldir had assumed the Dwarfs didn't seem mad, or even at least annoyed. They had started to laugh, and hard at that. When the pair had stopped laughing the elder looked at the now even more annoyed march Warden and with a grin replied;

"That's easy, we make our weapons by day, and children by night!" And with that the set started to laugh again.

HALDIR LIVES! Let the word be known!

Pardon for that…Not to subtle am I?

Also pardon for Haldir's OOC-ness, I don't think he'd pick a fight it the names of his lord and lady in another land. But on his own turn I see this as somewhat likely.
