Chloe's POV- Responses to S9: 'Escape'
Author's note: Just some Chloe/ Oliver drabble to fill the time. Nothing of great consequence.
God he's cute, Chloe Sullivan thought to herself as she watched him splutter out strangled sentences about his feelings. In front of her sat Oliver Queen; billionaire, playboy, superhero- everything she should probably be trying to avoid. Yet there she was, waiting for him to take the slightest pause, just so she'd have another chance to kiss him. If she were to kiss him, she thought mischievously, that would hopefully shut him up- he was rambling and he really needed to stop- however, she also wanted to put him out of his misery. She hated seeing him injured in any way- physically or emotionally- and he did look in awful pain there, trying to articulate how he felt about his ex- Chloe's cousin- Lois Lane. Time for action Chloe decided and kissed him rather roughly, not that Ollie was complaining. He responded eagerly but Chloe pulled away before he could draw her in too far with his magic lips- now wasn't the time for their 'favourite indoor game.' Just so he didn't start up with the bumbling explanations again, she quirked an eyebrow and 'shh-ed' him.
Chloe was astounded at the conversation she'd found herself having with Ollie earlier that day. Sat alone in her bedroom at 'Watchtower' she'd gotten to reminiscing over the events of the weekend. She had to admit it had been a strange one even by her standards- full of chance yet awkward meetings and men-hating banshees (well, just the one banshee spirit if you want to get technical about it- but still not a pleasant addition to the 'relaxing' weekend she'd had in mind.) However, the one part that stood out to her was the conversation she'd had with Ollie just before leaving.
You see, the thing was, Chloe was usually a very private girl. She kept everything hidden inside, that way she couldn't be betrayed, couldn't get hurt... theoretically. But Ollie had just asked her about Clark and she'd told him everything- with no hesitation. He'd broken right through her defences with one trusting look. Which was weird, because why would she open up to someone she was trying to have a 'no strings attached' relationship with? Surely that would classify as one of the complications she'd been trying so hard to avoid. It was just sex after all, well of course they were friends and she cared about him-more like friends with benefits she thought slyly. She still couldn't help wondering why she felt comfortable telling him these things though. Things she'd never admitted to anyone. She remembered her words;
"Yes I loved Clark, a lot. And I waited for years for him to see that... to see... me."
That wasn't the sort of thing you told someone who you were trying to be casual with. Nevertheless, what was really bothering her was the fact that he'd reciprocated in this heart to heart. Telling her all about his 'scars'- in fact, he seemed more nervous than she had about revealing these inner truths. He was so nervous, so un-Ollie, that it had freaked her out a bit, but she couldn't deny she found his insecure side rather endearing. It was nice to see that the bravado of Green Arrow didn't run to the core. She'd often wondered whether Ollie's rampages of drink and women were all he was possible of offering, but now she knew better. There was a lot more to him than the cheeky, flirtatious man many saw him as.
Retracing the events in her head, she realised that they'd said a lot to one another that afternoon, more than their words indicated at least. The strange thing was she didn't mind one bit. For once she felt that her heart had fallen into the hands of someone she trusted.
