Prologue
Felicity Smoak was never one to travel light. It was why she had to arrive at the airport nearly five hours before her flight. She always was the first one to make it through the baggage check.
"Mommy, where are we going?" A little girl no more than four years old asked. Felicity looked down at her daughter. She smiled at the ruffled dress she was wearing.
"We are going to where mommy used to live, Madelyn. Isn't that so exciting?" Felicity tried to hype her daughter up. She was nervous about going back and she didn't want her daughter to feel that energy.
"Yeah, can we get ice cream?" And just like that the topic of going back to Starling City was forgotten.
Felicity was terrified of going back to the City. After almost dying at the hands of the Count, she had escaped, nearly six years ago. She had fallen in love with Oliver Queen in the most unprofessional way but she couldn't follow through with it. It could have been lust for all she knew and he could never love a girl like her.
Felicity shook her head and tried to focus on the little girl in front of her. Felicity had made a few mistakes when she first arrived in New York. She had partied too hard and fell into the bed of a man she didn't know. Her daughter was the only good thing about those days. When Felicity had found out she was pregnant, she was nearly three months. She had quit drinking immediately, but she was always concerned that the alcohol she consumed before she knew she was pregnant had already damaged her. However on June 4, 2014, Madelyn Jane Smoak entered the world at 2:14 A.M. perfect in every way.
"Mommy!" The little girl exclaimed and once again broke Felicity from her thoughts. "Did you hear what I said?" Felicity shook her head. Her little girl was sassy for sure. "Do we get to ride in one of those?" Madelyn pointed to the plane getting ready to take off.
"Yes, sweetheart, that's how we are getting to Starling City." Felicity tried to say the city more times than necessary. She wasn't too sure if it was more so for her daughter's sake or her own.
"Now boarding the direct flight for Starling City." The voice on the loud speaker said. Felicity grabbed her carry on in one hand and Madelyn's hand in the other and made her way to the gate. She couldn't believe she was going back.
Let m know what you think! I was just dabbling around with this idea. Should I continue with it or just leave it alone?
