Mai's Smile-A Maiko One shot

Zuko likes her smile. He liked that little curve her lips made when he said something funny to make her laugh or complemented her clothes.
She actually liked smiling. However, being raised in a family who's central point was her father's career completely wiped her smiles away. But when she saw Zuko again, she felt that warm rush of blood to her cheeks and her lips involuntarily curl upwards.
Zuko loved that smile. But he really liked the ones she made when he told her he loved her. Those were his favorite ones (not because they usually came with a kiss)
He was consulting his Fire Sages about having a necklace made for his future betrothal to her. It was going to be a great surprise.
Zuko hired a skilled craftsmen who created the necklace, set with a ruby.
"Mai, please come with me." Zuko said, hands clasped behind his back. Mai looked up at him, but complied. She went to Zuko's side and walked with him to the garden. There was a sunset in the sky. Perfect.
"Mai, we've been together…for a while." Zuko coughed. "And I loved you each more everyday."
Mai blushed.
"Mai, will you…marry me?" Zuko asked quietly.
"Yes…" Mai kissed Zuko.
When they broke apart, Zuko noticed a new smile graced Mai's face, one full of love and joy. Zuko decided that was his new favorite smile.
