A/N: Well, SciFi plays a Eureka marathon and suddenly my dead muse comes back to life to write Jack/Allie fic. Hmm. Now isn't that wonderful? lol. Well, anyways, I hope y'all enjoy. :)
Reality
Every morning he wakes up to a cold, empty bed, his fingers curl across the space where she should have been. It is agony to him, as if he is literally ripping his own heart from his chest.
He remembers, though he wishes on everything he knows that he didn't.
The memories of the future—a paradox if ever there were one—both haunt and taunt him, reminding him of what could be but has not yet come to pass. To anyone else, the memories of the future might seem like a dream, but to him, it is the present that seems so surreal.
The present does not seem valid, does not seem possible.
Because without her, even reality itself is not real to him. It is only a hollow imitation of true reality, like a starless sky or a waterless ocean. But he cannot change what he has had to do and he cannot go back.
So he waits, he hopes, and he prays for that sky to fill with stars and that ocean to fill with water. For his blessed reality to return.
Please review. It feeds my muse (who has been feeling rather dead for the past couple of days... or weeks...)
