Naruto was surprised to find it there every morning as the first rays of the morning sun cascaded into his bedroom. Like every other time before, he never expected it to be there, sitting there so innocently. Yet there it was. There was no doubt about who put the flower there all the time. He just knew, somewhere deep in his soul, he just knew.

Anyone else would present him with an extravagant or showy flower, such as a rose, but only Sasuke would choose the simplistic beauty of a Daisy.

Naruto had been pleasantly surprised to find it there the first day, but put it off as his boyfriend being in one of his rare good moods. But it happened again the next morning. And the morning after that. And the morning after that. Until there continued to be a flower beside him as he awoke.

Even on missions, the routine continued. Inn a hotel or inn, there would be a daisy on the bedside table. When camping out, Sasuke would nonchalantly hand the flower to Naruto himself, without saying a word. And Naruto never asked.

During the daytime, things were normal though. Sasuke was his usual moody, gloomy self, and Naruto was still as hyperactive as ever. They never talked about thee innocent flower. Out of the unexpected life of being a ninja, the daisy that greeted him every morning was a routine he could count on. To ensure everything was normal.

Once, the blonde tried to wake up early to catch Sasuke in the act, and try worming a confession out from him. Needless to say, that didn't work out as planned. The morning came…and Naruto slept through it. He woke up to find the daisy already sitting there, and Sasuke long gone, only his familiar scent hung strong in the room.

He never tried again after that.

So he was stuck pondering this event on his own. Why would Sasuke leave a flower there anyways? Why didn't he stop after the first few times? Was there an ulterior motive behind it all? But the more Naruto thought, the more his brain hurt because he couldn't figure out a likely answer. Yet again, he gave up, and came to the conclusion that t his was Sasuke. And Sasuke…just did weird things for totally unexplainable reasons.

Problem was, Naruto thought about it too hard. The reason is: just because. Why did Naruto like Sasuke? Why did Sasuke like Naruto? Just because.

Why did Sasuke continue to put a daisy by the bed morning after morning?

Just because.

-----------------------------

I must laugh, before I end this story… that I chose the daisy because it is one of my favourite flowers, and it also is very simple. The yellow center adorned with delicate, white leaves, I thought it would work perfectly for this story.

Then, as the writing progressed, I decided I should look up the actual meaning of the flowers, in case any misunderstandings should arise. Yet, ironically, I've found that the meaning of the Daisy is innocence. Fitting, isn't it? That this is the flower that Naruto gets every day from Sasuke? I just decided to leave Naruto ignorant to that little fact.and lets pretend that Sasuke knew all along ne? (giggles madly)
