A/N: Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha or its characters. I only own the plot that made this story. This is going to be a very short series, and I warn you it may be fast paced and the chapters will be short. I write this because I'm a little stumped at my longer series of this couple. While I am at it, I had great inspiration to write this one. And if anybody noticed, I like to write sad stories for this couple and I have no reason why. Maybe, when I get some inspiration, I'll write a humorous one for this couple next time. Happy Reading everyone!

Chapter One

Bliss. He once had it before, but one mistake took it all away. One mistake is all it took for his happiness to be lost.

Bliss.

Happiness.

One woman.

Yes, one woman is all he needed to be happy in the terrible darkness he called life.

He was not the type to associate anything pertaining to weaknesses with love being included in that category. Showing emotions is another one of the things he gravely disliked. Loneliness was all he ever knew until she came into his life.

Sesshomaru stood on the hill, his eyes staring towards the scenery of the sun setting down. He had once again defeated one of the great demons and gained submission of the demons who served the once living great demon. A scent passed by him and he turned his head to be greeted by a young lady running up to him with a smile on his face. Her long ebony hair flowed the direction of the wind while her dark chocolate eyes danced with happiness. Her eyes always sparked with life, and he wonders if her eyes would ever disappear its glow. Her small pink lips upturned into one of her usual "bright" smiles where dimples would show on her face.

The young lady running up to him was Sesshomaru's ward named Rin. She wore a checkered kimono of orange and yellow and the green obi to fasten the kimono together. She was currently at the fresh age of sixteen. An age where suitors would come and ask her for marriage. She had grown up nicely even if she was not as beautiful as some, but Sesshomaru did not care for her looks. Rin was Rin and that is all he needed to know. She used to travel with him since young. But at the age of nine, he left Rin in Kaede's village, knowing Inuyasha and his wife will watch over her for him while he took back his lands as his own.

"Lord Sesshomaru!" She yelled. She stood in front of Sesshomaru before she had to lean over to catch her breath. When she calmed her breathing, she looked up at her lord with a big grin on her face. Sesshomaru nodded, acknowledging her presence.

"Today is the day?" Rin questioned, her eyes brightened like the sun. If Sesshomaru were to describe her, he would call her the "Child of the Sun".

"Yes," he answered coolly. Rin smiled happily and suddenly hugged him. Sesshomaru was surprised at her audacity to hug him, but he did not say anything. And for some reason, he let her be.

"I want to travel with you, Lord Sesshomaru! And Jaken. And Ah-Un," Rin said giddily, giving him a tight squeeze before letting him go.

"We will not be traveling, Rin. We will be going to my home. Come along, Rin. Pack up and we will leave first thing in the morning," Sesshomaru told her. Rin smiled and nodded.

Her arm rose upright and shouted excitedly, "Hai!"

But little did the two know, going back to the Western Lands was the beginning of emptiness.
