It was the day before the 57th expedition outside the walls. Levi and Petra were outside, looking at the stars. "Why do they insist on taking everything, Levi?" Petra almost whispered, in the fear of choking up, and crying. Levi shuffled uncomfortably, much to his horse's dismay. They whinnied and he needed to settle them, for it was prime time for titans to come and hunt. Levi shushed the horses, and replied, avoiding the question. He spoke with a soothing quality to his voice, as he always did.

"Petra, maybe we should go inside. It is 8:00 after all"

"No." she said firmly. "Answer my question".

Levi sighed. "Petra, it's seriously dangerous out here. I care about you whether it seems like I show it or not." Petra Blushed. In her head she wondered, "Is it really that obvious that I like him?" "If so, who will make the first move?" Petra allowed herself a small smile, much to Levi's confusion. "Petra?" Levi asked. She snapped out of her fantasy land, and her entire face went red. She buried her face in her hands. "Petra?" Levi asked, for the second time. Once Petra had regained dignity, she asked her question again. Why do they take everything from us Levi? It's not fair. After this she broke down into tears, unable to control herself. Levi shuffled over on the gate they were sitting on an awkwardly hugged her. "Petra, let's go inside"

"Okay Levi" She sniffed

Once inside Levi smiled at Petra. "You're fantastic at killing titans, yet when it comes to emotional pain, you break down. Why is that?

"I… I don't know…"
"Well… it is the day of the expedition tomorrow… We better make the most of what we have."

"What do you propose?"
"Well Petra. It's times like these when we are in the most need of human contact. Come on let's go."

Levi led Petra upstairs by the hand and the lay down in the sleeping quarters together. They slept Peacefully that night, if only they were prepared for what was to come in the morning…
