A/N: I just got to say one thing. You know you're an obsessive fangirl when your best friend's kid brother introduces you to his friend as 'my older sister's best friend who is borderline romantically obsessed with Slenderman'. It was both flattering and insulting at the same time… I do love Slendy-kun though ;D Anyway I wrote this for my contemporary poetry class; the assignment was to write a poem describing a setting. So, naturally I wrote one about the dark, bloody forest friends of darling Slender, ha ha!

Slender's Leafy Friends

Wander off the trodden path

Away from the road, out of sight

Keep those eyes aimed forward

Only glance from tree to tree, if that

Everywhere they've grown

Shooting up to block the sunshine

Arms spread out to envelope

Everything below in leafy darkness

Don't stop running when something

Slivers across your back, just in case

It wasn't one of those branches

Which might have grown longer since before

Ignore the screams you think are echoing

From behind that towering boulder

If they aren't your own then you

Know where not to be

The rising and falling of your chest

Seems oh so out of place

As your heart threatens to burst forth

And shatter the stillness of the trees

Somehow your feet have dragged you

Back to that forgotten, unpaved road

Is that a man standing twenty yards back,

His arms hanging limp at his side…?

Run, run, run, don't you dare look

Pretend for just a moment those trees

Aren't beckoning you onward and that

If you can just run fast enough…

You make an ill-fated turn and hit a fence

Dig your fingers into the cold metal pockets

The darkness seems to be closing in

And pulls the breath from the lungs

Branches wiggle, crawl, and wave

Until they don't look so much like trees anymore

And those inky black limbs yank you back in

Leading you back through the rotten leaves stained red
