Behind these amber eyes
is a girl crying with fear.
All they see is ferocity
when I'm holding back my tears.
What is it about me
That makes me hide behind a wall?
A wall built up to make me feel big,
Not to make me small.
But you see, that's exactly what it's done.
I feel so useless and alone.
If I reveal to you what I'm actually made of,
Will you mock me for what I have shown?
Insecurities and confidence,
Obvious truths and subtle lies.
Why is it that I continue to commit
The sins I've come to despise?
My friends expect the best,
And I strive to please them.
I see what they want before even they do,
And I, without hesitation, seize them.
I plan and plot and laugh with despair,
While painting a picture of me.
Who is Massie? you may ask,
But the definition is incomplete.
