Mr. Shue had just started the New Directions. He honestly had no idea if they were gonna work out and be a group together. Will just wanted the New Directions to be better than the other glee club Sandy had. He wanted them to not be the losers everyone told them they were. He wanted them to win regionals. He knew if he wanted to win regionals he had to have them work together and after their attempt at "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat", he had his doubts.

After Rachel stormed out he knew he had to make things right. He followed her to the bleachers on the football field. He had no idea what to say to her without saying "come back, you're better than everyone else there". He slowly made his way up the bleachers on the hot September day. Rachel was staring at Finn as he tackled Puck and a few other guys on the football team. "Hi Rach", Mr. Shue said. "Hello", she replied. "What happened back there? Why did you walk out?" he asked. "You know why. You know we are the joke of the school". "Rachel, that's not true. They just don't know how great all of you really are and when you win regionals, everyone is gonna love you guys!" he assured her. "You know I really love glee club" she said. "I wasn't sure about it at first. I only joined just so I can be a part of some thing. And now I realize that I love it and it is special." Mr Shue replied, "I wish everyone in their had your attitude". As he was talking to her she looked down at Finn again. This time he was with Quinn and he bent down to kiss her. She needed him to be hers. But he doesn't even know she exists. She needed to be special and make him notice her. We need more positive ener-". Rachel cut him off. "Being a part of something special makes you special, right?" "It sure does, Rachel, it sure does. How about you come back to rehearsal and give everyone a pep talk. We can tell everyone how if we change our attitude, we can become champs!" replied Will. "Ok, Mr. Shue." Rachel said. They both walked back to the choir room. Rachel looked back at Finn one more time and this time he smiled at her. He waved and she waved back. Maybe he did notice her. :)
