"Ryu-sama. As you know, the inner shield has bee breached. As a result, some certain adventurers have gotten ideas about the rest of the world. It's only a matter of time before they find the main barrier. I realize they cannot break it, but if rumor should spread, more powerful forces may become involved. What should be done?"
"Then it's time to bring the plan into action. Get together all of your friends you think should come."
"Demo, Ryu-sama. Bringing anyone with magic into the outer world is extremely dangerous! It would be nearly impossible to prevent them from causing trouble."
"I think it's perfect! We'll have to do something. Besides, both your friends and mine could use a little excitement. Don't worry. I'm powerful enough to prevent casualties."
"As you wish Ryu-sama. I'll bring them all together."
"Good. I'll take from there. Of course, you are coming too. Oh, and give them this invitation. Just so they'll know what's going on. Don't want them too shocked, ne? Now, please go get them."
"Yes, Ryu-sama."
"Don't be so formal! We're friends. Besides, you're class system doesn't apply here."
"This will be very interesting indeed." And with that, Xellos disappeared.
At first, it was a normal day for Lina Inverse. She had woken up, got dressed, woke everyone else in the inn up, gone down stairs, ordered breakfast, and was just now starting to eat and fight with Gourry. Then, things took a very strange turn.
"Ano...Lina-san?"
"Go 'way"
"Demo, Lina-san!"
"Weave me awoone!"
"It's very important!"
Finally, Lina turned around to see who was bothering her and fireball them. What she saw nearly made her fall out of her chair. Xellos was standing behind her, looking quite embarrassed and nervous, fidgeting slightly.
"Xellos?! What in the world-?"
Xellos waved his staff in the air and several other "friends" appeared. Now, the people assambled were Lina, Gourry, Zelgadis, Amelia, and much to everyone's surprise, Filia. After a moment of shock, all eyes went to Xellos. Instead of explaining, he simply thrust the note at Lina. She read it aloud to the group of people.
"Dear Friends of my friend. You have been chosen as the only ones from your world to journey to the outer world. I know this may be confusing, but it's true. There is yet another barrier which you live within. To avoid any possibility of you leading to its destruction, I will have Xellos escort you out for a sort of 'vacation'. I'll introduce myself once you have arrived. Sincerely, Ryu-sama."
Again everyone stared at Xellos. He sighed and raised his staff, a bright light filling the room. And then, the selected group of friends was teleported to the real world.
