At Dunharrow

I know Aragorn is not going to leave here with the army. He has another destiny although I do not know whether he knows that yet. He has to go after the Oathbreakers, those his ancestor imprisoned. We have too few swords to break the siege, those cursed warriors could be our only hope.

Their absence in battle no doubt caused the death of some of my kin but after 3000 years I find I can not hold that against them. Men have often been jealous of the immortality of my race, but none would take the undying life granted to these under Isildur's curse. Death would be a mercy to those accursed men.

We have to take the risk. The dead certainly do not like the living. None who have entered these paths have ever returned. They may let the King pass, but will Aragorn accept that role, that mantle with all the history good and bad that comes with it? That history, that role must be taken up if the dead are to be brought to battle.

He will try and go alone, I know he will. Aragorn does not like putting his friends in danger even if those friends would willingly follow him to confront Sauron himself. My horse is saddled ready to leave. Now I am going to sit and wait. Gimli is waiting too. Aragorn will come this way and then we will leave with him whether he likes it or not. Friendship is one of the few things that has held true during these dark times, therefore in the face of the brewing storm we must hold true to our friends. I suspect he will need his friends on the other side of that gaping maw although I do not see how. The mission to The Dead is the King's alone but even the King can not stand alone. I will go with him to the fires of Mordor if necessary.
