Time is never time at all
You can never ever leave without leaving a piece of youth
Roxas' mind had finally been made up. He was so sick of this tiresome game of pretend he and Axel played, exchanging meaningless "love yous" as if they really did, as if they really could. Who cared if Axel said they had hearts? That meant nothing. It didn't make the falsities any more true.
And our lives are forever changed
We will never be the same
The more you change the less you feel
"Axel, I can't do this anymore."
Believe, believe in me, believe
That life can change, that you're not stuck in vain
A brief bout of dialogue passed between them, Axel begging, Roxas denying himself the indulgence of believing the lies he was fed.
"Roxas! Won't you just listen?" The scarlet headed man's tone was desperate.
We're not the same, we're different tonight
"We have different visions, Axel. I can't stay with you like this. I just can't stay with you. Just… Just let me go."
Tonight, so bright
Tonight
"Roxas…" Axel was reduced to grasping at straws for a short moment. "Roxas, I love you!"
And you know you're never sure
But you're sure you could be right
If you held yourself up to the light
"Axel! You know that isn't true!" He gestured between himself and his lover vaguely, the latter looking like he just received a slap to the face. "We're just lying to ourselves if we believe that we can have these feelings for each other. Give it up!" Roxas' tone hedged on hopeless.
And the embers never fade in your city by the lake
The place where you were born
"Do you really believe that?" the fiery redhead demanded. "After everything… Do you really believe we can't feel?" Sharp malachite eyes pierced deep blue.
Believe, believe in me, believe
In the resolute urgency of now
"That's what I said," the blond said blankly, staring his now even more desperate lover dead in the eyes.
And if you believe there's not a chance tonight
Tonight, so bright
Axel shrunk the distance between the two of them.
Tonight
"Axel, don't…"
We'll crucify the insincere tonight
The small space was closer to nonexistence.
We'll make things right, we'll feel it all tonight
Two sets of lips connected, one participant far more reluctant than the other.
We'll find a way to offer up the night tonight
The blond's resolve weakened, his body melting against the incredible heat offered to him in the form of Axel. Growing deeper, the kiss soon faded apart, each man resting his forehead against the other's.
The indescribable moments of your life tonight
"Roxas," the taller offered, "I really, truly love you. I know I do. I can feel it."
The blond took hardly a moment to ponder his response.
The impossible is possible tonight
"I love you, Axel."
Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight
A/N: Well, there you have it! This came out far, far better than I expected it to, though I'm still not completely satisfied with it. Ah, well. At least it's out of my head. Really, it would not leave alone until it was written. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed, and I hope that you'll review.
