Anyways, on with the story –
James sniggered, and nudged Sirius. The Marauders were keeping up with their reputation, watching the results of their fifth prank in a week. "James!" A cheery voice yelled behind him. The tall boy whipped around to find Lily leaning on a post behind her. He scowled and tried to put up a smile. "How's it going?" Lily was eagerly bounding up at the question. James frowned and tried to turn his back on the annoying girl who kept popping up over the weeks.
"Jamsie boy, how's your relationship going, huh?"
Sirius had popped up behind him, nudging his arm. James scowled even harder and walked away. Lily looked crestfallen and eyed questionably at James's companion. Sirius just grinned.
"Don't worry; he'll come to his senses soon." Lily smiled sadly and trudged away from the jokey youngster. "Wha..?" Sirius shrugged and squatted back down to watch the unfolding prank.
"James, seriously, why did you do that to her?" Remus sighed and went back to his book while James crouched out of view from Sirius and imitated Peter, "Help, I'm being interrogated by a big scary creature…aaah!" Peter glared while Sirius laughed and smacked James on the arm. The matter was forgotten.
Lily lay headfirst on her bed trying to think of why James was ignoring her. She was so deep in thought she didn't notice when a tall blonde came in. "Knock Knock….u there Lils?"
"Yeah...Hey Mary..." Lily's attempt to sound cheerful just made Mary jump on her bed and hug her.
"Come on, spill the beans! What happened?" Mary asked, trying to comfort Lily.
"I've been trying to..to get James to like me…and he keeps ignoring me.." Lily stuttered, choking down tears.
"Lily, I'm sure there's an explanation..." Mary trailed of unsure of what to say.
"Noo, you don't get it Mary, you don't get how my heart beats at the sight of him and how he just seems to hate me and push me away. I've desperately tried do anything at all to get his attention, he just thinks I'm a…a…a..." Tears had begun to flow swiftly down Lily's cheek, streaks of red hair getting in her face.
"Lily!" The door flew open and both Lily and Mary turned around to face the short-haired girl gasping in obvious excitement.
"Marlene! What's wrong?" Mary began to say but was interrupted with a flow of words.
"Snivellus…James and the rest have got him up near a tree…come quickly!" Lily looked up with concern, "Severus?" She asked wiping her eyes swiftly. With that, all three of the girls ran out into the cold afternoon to see what mischief was being caused.
