CARELESS MAN'S CAREFUL DAUGHTER

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER

This is the Tommy/Kimberly relationship from Jason's perspective. Power Rangers belongs to Haim Saban and Nickelodeon. Inspired by the Taylor Swift song "Mine". Set like, late 1st Season, early 2nd Season, but doesn't really take a place after any particular episode.

When Kim was little, she had believed in fairytales and the princess finding prince charming. Then, her parents had divorced and she stopped believing, even when they reassured her that their divorce had nothing to do with her or her brother. She became careful and guarded. Sure, she went out on dates and got crushes, but she'd never let the guy all the way in. Then she met Tommy. Tommy, our Green Ranger. Sweet, shy, and feeling guilty about what Rita made him do. She pulled him out of the darkness and in turn, he made her believe again. She was smiling and laughing, and dreaming again. I love seeing her so happy. I don't think Tommy even realizes the impact he's had on her. When we were little, all Kimberly would read were fairytales, something that Zack and I teased her about mercilessly. Then, her parents got divorced and she stopped reading the stories and even threw the books away…well, she thought she had. Zack and I had saved those books from the trash, knowing that she'd hate it if they were truly gone. When Tommy came along, she started reading fairytales again and talking about being a princess and being saved by a handsome prince, and let me tell you, it feels good to hear her talk like that again. She's starting to believe in love again. Another habit she's started again is randomly humming, something that used to drive me nuts when we were little. But now it's like the sweetest music that reaches my ears because I know she's doing it because she's happy. And I like seeing her happy. I haven't seen her like this since the divorce and I'm so glad her full personality's finally back. Because even if Tommy has no idea what's he done, I do. None of us will ever tell him that he's healed a broken heart that had stopped dreaming or looking for love. None of us will ever tell him that all she ever expected was to be abandoned or tossed aside. Besides, it's obvious that she's not expecting that anymore. From the twinkle in her eyes, the toss of her head, and the way she laughs…it's obvious she's opened up her heart again. And he's the best thing that could've ever happened to her. He doesn't realize it but he's turned a careless man's careful daughter into a rebel…and I can't thank him enough for it.
