A/N: Just a short oneshot about Lily and James in their seventh year, since I was feeling inspired. Based loosely around the song "I Won't Say I'm In Love" from the Disney Movie "Hercules".

Lily Evans stormed into the seventh-year girl's dorm and threw herself onto her best friend's bed.

"I officially have the worst judgment in the entire bloody universe," she groaned into Alice's pillow.

"Good afternoon to you too." Alice Fortescue attempted to push Lily off of her bed, to no avail. She'd been trying to study for her Potions N.E.W.T., but apparently that was going to have to wait.

Lily sat up. "I'm finished. James isn't worth the aggravation. Been there, done that, we're through."

Fortunately, Alice could tell what was going on and knew exactly what to do for her friend. "Sweetie, who do you think you're kidding? You mean the world to him, and I know that he means the same to you." Lily raised her eyebrows. "Even if you won't say so. You are absolutely dreadful at concealing it. Everyone can tell how you two feel and that you're always thinking about each other."

The redhead glared at Alice with her gleaming green eyes. "Please tell me we're not doing this again! I'm not going to say it! I broke up with him, and we're not getting back together. It's great, because now you and Frank can stop making fun of how scrawny and gangly our kids would be."

Alice grinned at the thought. Actually, she believed that Lily and James's kids would be absolutely beautiful or handsome in every way, but that was beside the point.

"Oh James," she mocked her friend in a dreamy voice. "You're so gorgeous. Oh, Alice, isn't he just so muscular? It must be from playing Quidditch. He's so good at playing Quidditch" Lily gave her a playful slap to the arm "Ow!"

"Come on, Ali. It's just too…" she started "cliché. I can't just say I'm in love!"

"Oh?" Alice questioned. "It's too cliché? That's really the only reason why you won't say it?"

Lily sighed. "I thought I learned my lesson last time I had a boyfriend. You know, it feels so good when you start going out with someone, but now whenever I'm with him my head is just screaming at me to get a grip! And I feel like if I don't, the whole thing will end up with me getting my heart broken."

Pulling herself off of the bed, she said, "Come on, it's time for dinner." As the two girls began to walk out of their dormitory, she continued, "Hon, you keep denying how you feel about James, and here's the thing: no one's buying it. Face it, Lily." She turned to her best friend and smiled. "You've got it bad for James Potter!"

Lily pushed past her. "No." she said, walking as fast as she could. "I absolutely refuse to tell James that I'm in love with him."

"You're just lying to yourself!" Alice exclaimed.

"I won't say it!"

"You're in love!"

Lily stopped outside the door to the Great Hall. "Alice, you are so far off base, I can't even begin to explain it."

"Come on!" the brunette begged. "Frank and I said 'I love you'!"

Lily sighed, all the resolve she had left leaving her body. "Fine." Alice smiled, and Lily grinned right back at her. "But," she said, opening the door, "I won't say anything out loud until he does first." Then she ran inside, sat down next to her boyfriend at the Gryffindor table, and gave him a quick peck on the lips before Alice could catch her again.

A/N: This was originally going to be a Ron/Hermione songfic using the song "A Dustland Fairytale" by the Killers, but it got changed around a bit, as you can see. I think it turned out well anyway. Let me know what you thought!
