Blank. Darkness. Both expected from falling into the Void, but this was different. The atmosphere felt...warmer. Almost comforting in the presence of no one in the realm of nothing. He could hear them. Hear and see their disembodied words echo around what he believed was his consciousness.

Yeah, maybe you two should go and do my job, Steve thought, glaring at the words. Or at least giving the mental impression of a glare, as he did not have a physical body at the current moment, just a conglomeration of consciousness and numbers.
-Yes. However, we will not condemn it to eternal sleep. Yet.
We will gift you with another life. But. This will be your last one.
No respawn. No shaking away the nightmare of death like autumn leaves in a gust of wind.-
*And no memories of events prior to your final rebirth. You need not know of the burden you used to carry.*
This didn't sit well with Steve. He had made so many memories over the many years that he lived throughout his semi-immortal life...
And now they're taking all of that away from him because they were afraid he'd be pulled down by them?
-Now, feel your body again.-

*Feel the wind through your fingers and hair-*
No!
- -and feel your lungs breathe in the fresh air.-
*Feel your arms and legs, your tools for survival. Your methods of communicating and interacting with the universe.*
