Hey Guys and Girls, I'm finally back. I thought I'd start off with a new story before starting work on my old stories. This takes place in season 2 after Clark had found his father and everyone was safe.
Chloe stood in the loft of the Kent barn. It wasn't the first time that she had found herself there but this time didn't feel the same. A lot had happened since the spring dance. Once again Clark managed to take something so amazing and so beautiful and make it about Lana. Don't get her wrong Chloe was grateful that Lana was okay. But it proved to her that Clark would never feel for her the way she felt for him.
The heavy sound of footsteps told her she as no longer alone in the loft. She swallowed the lump in her throat and wiped away the tear that lingered down her cheek. She placed the all familiar fake smile upon her face and turned to see Clark.
Clark smiled at the sight of her standing in front of the opening in the loft as the moonlight embraced her tiny frame. "Chloe, hey…"
"Hey, Clark." She said. "So how is Lana?"
Clark tossed his bag onto the chair by the sofa. "She's fine. Still a little shaking, but that's to be expected." He walked over to Chloe. "How are you? I mean we really haven't gotten to talk about the whole dance and stuff…"
Chloe fanned it off. "It's okay, Clark."
Clark could tell that her face said otherwise. He knew that he had let her down once again. "Chloe,… I'm sorry. I didn't want to just run out on you like that. That night meant a lot to me too. I want to make it up to you."
"Don't worry about it. I mean it was an eye opener."
"What does that mean?"
She walked over to the sofa and took a seat. "It means that you and I aren't meant to be."
Clark couldn't believe that Chloe would just blow him off like that. "Chloe,…"
"Come on, Clark…you and I both know that as long as Lana Lang is here in Smallville, there will be no Clark and Chloe."
Clark walked over to Chloe and sat down next to her. "Chloe,… that's not true. Lana and I are just…"
Chloe laughed. "… friends. Yeah, I've heard that one before." She stood up and walked over to the steps. "I just dropped by to say that I'm leaving tomorrow. I'm going to Metropolis to stay with my cousin for a while."
Clark stood to his feet. "Your coming back right."
"I don't know. She said that I could stay as long as I'd like and so did my dad."
Clark couldn't believe she was just giving up without a fight. That wasn't the Chloe that he knew and loved. "Your just gonna leave because of Lana. C'mon, Chloe that's not fair."
"It's not fair watching you pine for Lana. Wishing that you would drop some crumb of your feelings my way." She tried to stop the tears from falling but she couldn't. She walked over to him and kissed him softly on the lips. "Bye, Clark." She turned and started down the steps.
Clark could feel his heart racing. He didn't want her to leave. He wanted to make things right. He knew he was falling in love with her when he leaned in to kiss her at the dance. He hadn't felt that rush come over him before. He couldn't let her leave, he took a deep breathe and super speed down the steps coming to a complete stop in front of her.
Chloe couldn't believe her eyes. How did he get in front of her so fast. He reporter mind was filled with questions, but her lips wouldn't move.
Clark took her into his arms and kissed her softly. He knew they would be a thousand questions but he wasn't about to lose the girl of his dreams.
