A short ficlet or a long drabble depending on how you look at it :) Please enjoy!
Thanks to my beta TheLightIsMine, LOVE YOU!
Inspired by this quote: "No, no you're not thinking. You're being logical." – Neils Bohr
"You know, I'm still angry with you," Scorch said as he walked with Boss back to the accommodation block.
Boss gave a tired sigh. "Look, I didn't want to leave him behind either."
Scorch muttered something under his breath and strode past Boss. He wasn't happy – at all. He had barely spoken to the Spaarti clone that had temporarily taken Sev's place. He missed the banter they'd had, the friendly fights, and it wasn't until he was gone that Scorch realised how much he missed Sev. He had nightmares about it. He had to watch Sev stumble around Kashyyyk, lost, alone and half-dead. He hated them. He always tried to reach out to him, but he could never reach. It brought him to tears every time; the thought of Sev thinking they'd abandoned him, and being unable to tell him he didn't want to go.
Boss caught his arm and turned Scorch to face him. "Hey. Listen to me. You can punch me, or do whatever you like, but being mad at me won't bring Sev back. Vau is looking for him. We can't do anything."
Scorch felt tears of anger blur his vision but they didn't fall. "We can. We can leave – go and look ourselves. We could find him."
Boss shook his head. "No." He said, firmly. "We were raised to be survivors. Sev will survive by himself."
Scorch almost did punch him. "He thinks we left him behind!" He said, and choked back a sob. "We did leave him behind."
"No, we followed our orders."
"Screw orders," he spat. "He's our vod, he comes above any Sith or Jedi order! Would you have obeyed and left him if it was Zey who'd ordered it? Would you have killed Etain if she'd been there?"
Boss hesitated. He had never admitted it, but he'd never have killed Etain. He respected her too much, and then there was her relationship with Darman of course.
"See, you'd have disobeyed orders then." Scorch said when he got no reply. He shoved Boss violently back against the wall. "We aren't anything without Sev. We have nothing to be proud of; we're now like every other kriffing squad."
"Calm down, Scorch, right now." Boss growled warningly. Scorch shook his head, a few tears now escaping to fall down his face. "I said now." Boss repeated, resisting the urge to shake Scorch.
Scorch let go of Boss and slid down the wall opposite. "How could we do that to him?" He sobbed quietly.
Boss sighed. He missed Sev, he knew Fixer did too. But Scorch had been affected the worst; he hadn't really been himself since they'd been forced to leave him behind. They'd all noticed. It was like a part of Scorch was missing. "I'm sorry. It was the only option I could think of. I thought about it, Scorch, I didn't make the decision rashly. I still think the same now."
"No." Scorch said, meeting Boss' eyes and standing up again. "No, you're not thinking. You're being logical." Scorch stormed off towards the accommodation block, his eyes bloodshot from crying. Boss didn't follow, thinking it would be better to let him cool down a bit. Yet he wasn't sure Scorch would ever truly forgive him for doing what he'd done to Sev.
Boss knew it had been a mistake to leave Sev behind. He just hoped that when Vau found him, Sev would be able to forgive him. Because it wasn't an if, it was a when. Delta would be reunited.
Review worthy? I hope so! Please leave a review telling me what you think :)
