I walked into the lab. The bells over the door jingled and alerted the professor that a visitor had come, and that made me even more nervous. My palms were sweating, I was kind of jittery and I was already contemplating the idea of leaving.
"Hang on." I heard a voice yell, right before a loud grunt. "Be there in a second!" I heard another grunt, and the sound of a few boxes falling in another room.
A moment later, the professor entered the main room. Professor Elm was definitely a nice-looking guy. I felt bad for stealing from him all those months ago.
When he saw who I was, he nearly panicked, but didn't say anything. "It's alright." I held my hands up. "Not here to take anything like last time." Professor Elm kept staring at me, but seemed to relax a little. "I actually came to… Well, to return him." I grabbed the first pokéball on my belt and set it on the table nearest to me.
Elm slowly walked over and picked up the ball, then released the Pokémon inside. My- no, not mine anymore- his Pokémon walked over to me and reached his head up to my hand like he used to when he wanted me to pet him. I knelt down to its level and pet him, savoring the last time I'd get to do it. "I'm gonna miss you," I looked him straight in the eyes and said.
Professor Elm had seen all this, no doubt, but I didn't care. I really was going to miss that Pokémon.
Elm cleared his throat. I stood again, looking at him. "It seems that your Pokémon already likes you so much." He walked to me, pokéball in hand. "For a Pokémon, the best happiness is to be with someone it loves. I think," He glanced at the Pokémon, then back to me. "it should stay with you." He held out the pokéball to me.
I took it and didn't know what to say. I really wasn't expecting this. I looked down to his- no, my Pokémon and said, "Thank you." Looking back to the professor, I said it again.
He laughed and said, "You're welcome! Now, get on out of here. I know you have better things to do with your Pokémon than to stand around in my laboratory." He smiled and walked away.
I felt a smile creep onto my face, but I didn't care. I was grateful to this man now.
I walked out of the lab, myPokémon following behind.
-A few days later
"And you should have seen it! It made me cry!" The lab aid told Lyra. She was shocked to hear the news that Silver had done that. He really had come a long way since he first came here, now hadn't he?
"Oh, my. I wonder what he's up to now." Lyra thought about the next time she'd see him.
"I don't know, but I saw his face as he left here. He looked so happy."
End Notes: Man, I like this one. I don't know how you feel, but I think it's one of my better pieces, in a way. Oh, and I left the Pokémon's species out of the piece because it's different for everyone. For me, he had Meganium. The story is actually based off the scene after you beat SoulSilver/HeartGold, with some dialog verbatim from the story the aid tells your character. (NOT LIKE MIDIKA WOULD KNOW, THOUGH, NEVER HAVING BEATEN A POKÉMON GAME. :| I GOTTA FIX THAT.)
Anyway, tell me what you think in a review, 'kay? I'd love to hear from you. Really. *puppy eyes*
