Kronos laughed, his cold bellow echoing throuout the bloodied field that Percy, Annabeth, and many other demigods were standing on.
"You think you can beat me, peasents?" He had said.
Without answering, Annabeth slipped on her invisibility cap, and lunged at Kronos.
She was in the perfect place to end everthing. She had a clear attack. But she hesitated, remembering everthing that Luke had done for her.
She got choked up wondering just how much of it was a lie. Seeing Luke's body before her, she knew that it wasn't actually him, but her heart didn't believe it.
Lost in her memories, she didn't realize that her hat had fallen off.
"Annabeth! Look out!" Called out a farmiliar, and comforting voice. As she turned to look at her boyfriend, she was pushed out of the way. Dazed, she still managed to make out Percy's handsome features. 'Love you' He whispered, getting up to kill the monster that was about to attack his girlfriend.
As it disintegrated into golden dust, Percy turned to face the real threat. Kronos.
Annabeth turned on the monster army that Kronos had brought with him. After many minutes of fighting, Annabeth heard a shuddering gasp.
She turned to look behind her, and her worst fear became reality. She saw Kronos hit the ground, riptide embedded in his chest, but what lay next to the titan made her heart stop.
She watched as Percy's shocked face moved from his abdomen to her eyes. The only feelings swimming in his sea green eyes were shock, love, and a twinge of saddness.
Kronos's scythe was stuck deep in his abdomen, and she watched as he fell to his knees. His head drooped, and one moment later, he collapsed on the ground. It was only then that she snapped out of her shock. It was onlt then that she dropped her knife, and ran to him. Dropping to her knees beside his, she whispered as she wept for him.
"Percy... you can't do this to me... can you? You have to- you have to stay with me. I... I can't do this without you. Seaweed brain? You can't do this... you can't." She had wept, holding him in her arms, not receiving any answer. She knew he wasn't dead yet. There was still a faint pulse. No, he wasn't dead. But he was dying.
"Percy. How could you? I need you. I need you here. I need..." She sobbed. She felt his body losing warmth. She felt that faint pulse become slower. She felt him die.
Her golden hair outlined her face as she cried.
"Percy, you can't leave me! You said you wouldn''t!" She remembered her last words to him, before he died.
"You said 'forever'."
