Chapter 1- The Start of Something New
"Ringgggg….." The final school bell rang.
"Eyyy. Remember to do your holiday homewor…k." The teacher screamed at the running children. So fast ne, it's already winter. Sometimes, he felt so fail as a teacher.
"Ne~ sensei." A sweet and perky voice cheered him up. The troubled teacher looked up, his favourite student, Mikan Sakura.
"Sensei, I shall give you some homework too." She picked up the chalk on the whiteboard.
"Masaka… Again?" He groaned playfully.
"This time, it is a murder case. A murderer had sneaked into the house, and tried to kill a girl. He hated her. However, as he was about to stab the knife into her stomach." Mikan continued scribbling stuff on the blackboard, "he heard someone trying to break in. He threw her on the bed and hid somewhere. However, when the person outside managed to break in, there was no one inside. He called the police and they classified it a sealed room murder case. Where or how did the murderee hide or escape?" She drew the floor plan of the house out and placed the chalk back on the ledge.
The teacher, meanwhile, with his eyebrows knit closely together, copied the scribblings down onto his notebook.
"Ano… come back in a week okay?" The teacher, still staring at the notebook said.
"Demo… in a week, I'll be at Zero sensei's audition."
"Zero? As in the great detective… Zero?"
"Ahhh… Hai? Daijoubu?" She waved her small hand in front of the teacher's stunned face.
"Ah. Daijoubu desu. Then, enjoy yourself!"
"I will. Ja'ne!" Mikan slung her slingback onto her shoulder and ran off.
This kid… may be the perfect solution to the country's future crimes after all…
