A lone figure standing

In the dark of night

A silhouette from the moon

With stars in her eyes

The tragic beauty

Gazing out at the world

Paradise surrounds her

But traps her inside

She closes her eyes

Breathing in the crisp air

And imagines herself

Anywhere but here

The icy breeze

From the windmill blades

Plays through her curls

Lets her know she's alive

The neon lights

Flash behind her closed eyes

The fake glow of splendor

She pretends to desire

There is no family here

No warmth or emotion

Only empty night creatures

And the sparkle of jewels

The void inside her

Cannot be filled

She follows this rule

But still secretly dreams

It may not be perfect

It may not be real

But this place was her home

And the life that she knew
