Sollux idly tapped at his keyboard, eyes heavy and weary from being glued to a screen for so long. He enjoyed the solitude he could always find in the dark depths of one of the computer filled rooms on the meteor. Everyone else usually seemed to respect, too, that when Sollux holed up in there, he wasn't exactly welcoming visitors. Usually.

His solitude was interrupted by the soft creaking of the door and shuffling footsteps. The shuffling feet were revealed to be Karkat's with a short "Hey," from the troll.

"Hey," Sollux responded, not bothering to look away from the monitor. There was a moment of silence, Karkat awkwardly standing by the doorway before he spoke up.

"Alright if I hang out in here?"

"Of course," Sollux responded, as if Karkat was an idiot for even asking. But Karkat knew that to even be in Sollux's presence when he was in a bad mood was to risk getting his own head ripped off. But he graciously nodded and half leaned, half sat on the desk a little ways from Sollux. Although Karkat was silent, Sollux could feel him staring, waiting for him to say something.

"So…what's up?" he conversed, lisping slightly. It was as if Karkat had been holding his breath, his answer rushing out like water from an open floodgate.

"Terezi dumped me today."

"Shit, sorry man,"Sollux tried comforting, still not removing his gaze from the computer screen. "I know you were into her. Did she have a reason?"

Karkat looked down into his lap. "She…said she knows there's someone else I like more."

"Well, do you?" Sollux asked with interest, continuing to tap away at the keyboard.

Karkat shifted against the desk. "I guess…"

Now Sollux was genuinely interested, and turned in his chair to face is friend, grinning. "Oh my god, who is it? It's fucking GZ isn't it? God I knew there was something going on between you guys."

Karkat kept looking down, his only answer a soft "No…"

"Kanaya? I thought you guys were way more pale if anything," Sollux continued to press. Karkat shook his head. "Ok, I know it isn't FF…Dude, come on, you can tell me anything, I swear I won't tell." He stayed silent.

"Oh god," Sollux grimaced. "You are not fucking flushed for ED. Fucking hell, I thought you were better than that, KK."

"Wha- no!" Karkat finally spoke up. "It's not the fucking Prince fishdouche."

Sollux mentally scanned a list of their friends until the realization hit hard. "Shit," he hissed. He pushed the balls of his feet against the floor, rolling the few feet to Karkat, who was glaring at him.

"It's…" Sollux pointed at his chest, raising an eyebrow. Karkat's expression softened, and he gave a fraction of a nod and looked down again. Sollux's mouth hung open, not sure what to say.

"KK, I…" He sighed, stood hesitantly from his chair. Then he leaned down closer to Karkat, gently lifting his chin with his fingertips, and leaned in so their foreheads were touching. "You're not fucking with me, are you? That's just low, even for you."

Karkat scowled again. "No, why the hell would I even-"

Given all the assurance he needed, Sollux closed the small space between them, letting their lips brush lightly before standing straight. He scanned Karkat's face for any reaction, and was caught off guard when Karkat's hand reached up for the base of his neck, pulling him back down into a deeper kiss. Sollux closed his eyes and snaked an arm around Karkat's back, running the other hand through Karkat's messy hair. Karkat kept one hand firmly on Sollux's neck and wrapped the other around his waist. Sollux loved the way Karkat would moan ever so slightly and how his breath would sometimes hitch when he sucked lightly on the other's bottom lip. They stayed that way until they finally pulled away minutes later to catch their breath.

"So…we're still friends?" Karkat asked shakily.

Sollux gave him a playful shove. "This seems a little more than friendly if you ask me."
