Washington, D.C. 12/20/2012
The United States of America sat in what he dubs the "spinny chair" in his personal office in the Capitol. What better place to spend his last hour on Earth? Well, America could think of plenty, but it would be a waste of precious time to think about it now.
After all, as predicted by ancient Mayan prophecy, the world would end tomorrow.
America checked the clock. It was 11:55 p.m., and the end of the world was only five minutes away. He could have sworn that five minutes ago he had double the time left, but now the countdown had suddenly been reduced to five minutes.
Five minutes.
Five minutes.
America picked up the phone and dialed.
At 11:56 p.m. the American said from Washington, "England! England! It's almost midnight and we're all gonna die!"
At 4:56 a.m. the Englishman replied from London, "That's nice."
