When I first saw Daisy, I thought I was in Heaven. A gorgeous, sweet little girl, eager to play with me. The second she removed me from that box I never left her presence. Daisy was the ideal owner; I thought she would never leave me.

I was wrong. Very wrong.

One day, she left Chuckles, Big Baby, and I lumped together on the grass in a field far away from home. I remained in my inanimate state, hoping she would return and bring us home. Once we realized she would never return, however, the three of us began the long trek to Daisy's quaint little home.

It took us about four days on foot. We braved rain, birds, snakes, and zipping cars. Big Baby's cream clothing and my pink fur accumulated dirt and grime. Finally, we arrived at our destination. I could not wait until I reunited with my dear, sweet owner. I climbed up the window, picturing Daisy holding me once again, and reading to me her favorite book before bedtime.

She indeed read to a Lots-O'-Hugging Bear before bedtime, but it was the wrong Lotso. It was not me—it was a replacement. I was replaced.

After the initial shock, my eyes finally opened to what each toy wanted to deny. I was not the only Lotso. Big Baby was not the only Big Baby, and Chuckles was not the only Chuckles either. We were toys—children's playthings, mass produced by humans for play by our human owners. There were thousands, hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of us in homes across the country, or maybe even around the globe. If Daisy wanted another strawberry scented bear, her parents could buy another in the local toy store. And that she did.

Daisy could never have loved me, I realized. She replaced us. She had replaced all of us! From that moment on, I had no owner to control my own destiny—except for myself.
