Twenty years ago, the Phantom found a baby boy in the jungle, without a trace of his parents or any clues to his identity. He took the boy home and raised him as his own, giving him the name Rex.

Growing up, Rex was surprisingly strong and quick, and unbelievably resistant to physical damage – Dr. Axel even had trouble inculcating him.

At five, he started flying.

At ten, he single-handedly repelled an attack by Singh pirates on the Skull Cave, having shown himself impervious to both their poison gas and their bullets.

Yesterday, the Phantom fell in battle. Today, Superman will bury his father and swear the oath as the 22nd Phantom.

Author's note

This idea came to me as I considered how to describe the difference between a crossover and a fusion to my father (who isn't into very many fandoms). I don't know Superman well enough to do much more with it on my own, but if anybody wants to give it a try, feel free (just please tell me about it - I would very much like to read the result!) The title is a pun on the Latin motto of the Jungle Patrol (Stamus Contra Malo = "We Stand Against Evil") and a Swedish nickname of Superman which happens to sound not too dissimilar to the first word.
