Trip sat, just staring at the wall. He had expected to feel relieved, that finally telling the Capp'n that he wanted a transfer would relieve him, as if he was taking control of his own feelings, but the pit in his stomach grew even larger. Asking for the transfer was one of the hardest things he could remember doing, and yet this seemed all the harder.

He wasn't satisfied that he was just leaving. Before he left her forever, Trip wanted to do something. He wasn't sure what, but he wanted to do something small, something to let her know that he really cared, despite how much pain caring caused him. He had been mulling it over for hours and did not know what he wanted. He wanted help, but there was no one whom he trusted with this. Except...

Trip went under his bed and picked out a small box. The box was red and inside it was a silver ring with an inscription in ancient English. The ring had belonged to his sister, it was all he had left of her. He never considered himself a spiritual person, but on the rare occasion he needed spiritual guidance, hen he would try and talk to his sister using this ring. It was a practice that he had told nobody. Not even the Capp'n about.

He slipped the ring on his finger and sat down. Already, he could feel Lizzy's presence.

"Please tell me" he whispered "what should I do?" he listened he felt something, but couldn't place what.

"Talk to me Lizzy, what should I do?" The feeling grew even more prominent. It was starting to feel overwhelming. He sat back, closed his eyes, and tried to place exactly what the feeling was. His sister had spoken to him, he realized, and the feeling was one word.

Remember

Yes Trip thought I know what I have to do.

T'pol went around the deck twice before she realized that she was lost. It was odd, she felt as if she was practically in a daze. She went to her quarters, still trying to shake off the emotions that seemed to be clinging to her, despite her best attempts to suppress them. It was Commander Tucker's own choice to leave she tried to convince herself I am not a part of this.

T'pol entered her quarters and was surprised to find a small box on her desk. She picked up the box and saw a ring inside. It was silver with an inscription in a language she didn't recognize. The ring was very beautiful, in a plain sort of way. She was just wondering why it was there when she saw a message on the bottom of the box.

It was Lizzy's.

I know that Vulcans don't where jewelry

But it's not for wearing

It's for remembering

Remember me T'pol

-Trip

T'pol looked at the ring in a new light and found that she didn't know what to think. She would have to speak with him tomorrow. She couldn't accept this, and yet there was some part of her that wanted it more then she would dare admit. This didn't feel right. The fact that she felt so much about getting this ring didn't feel right.
