Your smile never changes,
It's always the same.
Ten years I've known you,
And it's always been plain.
Stretching ear to ear,
With big rubber cheeks.
A giddy little giggle,
And a few excited squeaks.
Sabo thought so too,
And we both agreed,
That you should never loose your smile,
And to be Pirate King you will accede.
We'd do everything in our power,
To keep you rising high,
To lift up your spirits,
And push you past the tide.
The large straw hat,
That sits atop your head,
It bounces as you walk,
And sways in your stead.
It holds many secrets,
Many burdens too,
Each strand of straw is a story,
Of a dream that came true.
And if you sew in a strand,
When you become king,
Your smile could be radiant!
Immense happiness it will sing.
But now you curl over,
With your hands on your head,
Shaking and shivering,
Over the second one dead.
But believe me I'm fine,
I don't want you to cry,
I'm still here with you,
You don't need to say goodbye.
And maybe, just maybe,
When you turn that frown upside down,
When you dry out your eyes,
So that your grin doesn't drown.
Then, if you place your hat back on your head,
And if you stretch that smile a bit wider,
Who knows? We might both come back,
To walk along beside ya.
