Chapter one: Premonitions of the past
An eerie laugh filled Kataras mind as she watched the dieing embers of the fire. Fire nation soldiers danced around the flames shooting minature fireballs at the screaming water tribes people, as her eyes glowed she zoomed down into the midst of the battle watching from above, she gasped as she saw her mother shooting water whips at a young, rough looking firebender with sideburns. He shot a series of kicks towards the waterbender which made her stumble and fall as she moved as if to stand the young captain placed a heavy metal boot on her neck, threatening to crush her windpipe. The waterbender gathered the water around her and shot it toards the firebender. Growling he dodged it and ran towards Kira hands aflame and a yell erupting froom his throat. Kira fumbled to use the water and ice around her but it was too late. She writhed on the ground as the flames engulfed her body, the only thing that was left unharmed and not charred was a blue engagement necklace. A young brunette scrambled from behind a large block of ice and darted forward, eyes brimming with tears and hands groping for the blue pendant.
"Mom," she whimpered nudging the burnt body with her small hands.
"Mom, wake up we need to leave before we get killed," she said. Then it struck her. Her mother was dead, and there was nothing she could do about it.
Katara cried and cried that night. Not even the comforting arms of Sokka and Aang could save her from her suffering. She clutched at her necklace several times, all Sokka could do was watch sadly as his sister had the nightmares of the past. He sighed and stood up.
"Hey Aang I'm going to collect some firewood," he announced.
"Great! I'll come with you," the airbender piped up. Sokka groaned and nodded his head reluctantly.
As they walked he thought about all the times his sister had had those stupid premonitions, something else she had inherites from their mother. Once they had gathered some brush wood they returned to camp only to find the fire burnt out their tent and everything destroyed. As they ran towards the ruins of their camp they gasped as they saw Toph silently crying. Shocked Aang rushed over to her and asked her what was wrong.
"Zuko! Zuko has kidnapped Katara, and there was nothing I could do. There was nothing I could do..." she cried fear and shock in her voice. Aang and Sokka looked at each other and nodded, they would save Katara if it's the last thing they do.
What do you think? Well I hope you like it. R and R!
