"Why? Why don't you let us help you?! We can make your life so much easier, so, why-"
"Maybe because I think I don't deserve it!?"
David's eyes widened and he frowned, confused. "W-What-"
Max tensed up even more and refused to meet his eyes.
"Maybe it's because I've never had someone remember my name for more than 5 minutes and even going as far as to 'care' about me when no one else did!? Maybe it's because I know I'm awful and not worth it?"
David, frozen momentarily, reached out. "Max..?"
"Maybe it's because I hate myself and refuse to have you waste time and energy on me!"
David frowned, eyebrows furrowing. "Max..."
"Because I wanted-no, 'needed' to be alone, to disappear-"
"Max."
"Because I never planned on making it this far-"
"MAX."
Max was beyond hysterical by now, tears streaming down his face.
"I-I always planned on e-ending it before I could-"
"MAX!"
Max jumped, startled out of his thoughts. Before he could respond he was pulled into a tight hug.
"...Max..."
