Faye was annoyed. Stupid, stupid Spike. Was was he trying to prove, pulling a stunt like that? Did he not find all that time on the Bebop real? Did he think everyone and everything that happened was just a figment of his imagination? Spike wasn't clever enough to come up with everything. The only thing he ever could come up with was the perfection of his beloved Julia. And then he went and got himself killed, as if he didn't understand that once you're dead, it's over. There's no going back once you're dead. But for course he didn't think of that.
All he ever thought of was Julia.
She hated Julia. Not because Julia was a cruel person, or because she was jealous of Julia. In fact, teaming up with Julia was an experience she enjoyed amd remembered with crystal clarity. She respected the Julia she met that day. No. She hated Julia for having such a hold on her friend that was so lethal to him. She hated Julia because she was dead, and then Spike went and died with her. She hated Julia because everything that preyed on Julia preyed on Julia. Most importantly, she hated Julia because she couldn't bring herself to hate Julia no matter how hard she tried.
And now Spike was laying there, in some stupid grave at some stupid graveyard with a bunch of trees on a cloudy day. There's no glory in that. There is no life in that. Once again, Faye was annoyed as she stared at the grave in front of her. Stupid. It was all over. A small breeze blew as she stood in silence.
A silent tear rolled down Faye's cheek as she put a single yellow rose on Spike's pathetic grave. She should have left when she had the chance. She kept coming back, though. And now she was facing the consequences of caring, of not being on her own as she had for so long. She could manage on her own, and should have never attempted to become part of a family. It only caused pain. But she kept coming back. Stupid.
It's not like she could change anything, though. You can't repeat the past. She couldn't go back and relive her happy and vilbrant moments on the Bebop just as she couldn't go back and relive her younger and more vulnerable years before the accident. All that time was over. Such a vibrant part of her long life just… gone. She felt the sudden urge to kick the grave, to shoot someone, or to break down in a sobbing mess.
She did none of these, though. He woke up in the end. That was enough, she supposed. There wasn't anything else for her to do. Game over. She still wanted to destroy his gravestone, but she didn't. No point in ruining the party for anyone else stupid enough to to visit.
Instead, she turned and walked away, as any longer and she might have shot the shabby gravestone. As she left, she let a soft whisper escape her lips, "Bye, 'Gorgio'" almost wishing he was there to reply "later, 'Romani'." But she knew he couldn't, and she walked on without stopping.
As the sun came out from from behind the clouds, the leaves dyed the sunlight green as it came to a rest on Spike's grave. The single yellow rose Faye left behind almost glowed in contrast with the dull stone tab. A whisper of a gust of wind blew for a moment and porceeded to fade from existence.
Stupid.
Just a short little Drabble I wrote since I'm bored. Feel free to flame, I brought a fire extinguisher. Plus, it's not exactly great. My English teacher would kill me if she read this.
a yellow rose symbolizes friendly love, friendship, stuff like that.
'Bye, Gorgio' is a reference to episode 3 when she steals the money from Spike and says 'hi, Gorgio' and spike replies 'yo. Romani'
