I Dub Thee Jily

"Oi! Prongs look who's here! It's our favorite red-head."

"What?"

Sirius and James had come to get an early breakfast. Sirius had known that Lily would also be at the Great Hall at the same time that day. Lily rarely woke up early on weekends and when she did, she was not someone anyone wanted to consort with.

"Shut up, Sirius!"

Upon seeing Sirius wiggle his eyebrows suggestively, James knew he'd have to resort to desperate measures.

"I swear to Merlin, if you don't shut up about me and Lily I will see to it personally that your hair turns blue."

"That's a bit harsh for your best mate isn't it... Lames?"

James only raised an eyebrow inquisitively, something Sirius could not accomplish even if his life depended on it.

"You and Lily. Lames."

The aforementioned red-head passed by as Sirius explained his previous remark.

"Sorry?"

"Hi Lames."

"What did you call me?" She asked, her face scarily impassive.

"Lames. Beautiful, isn't it?"

"Sirius. Sometimes you are even more annoying than my sister -- and that's saying something." With a flick of her wrist, she was gone.

Sirius stood up slowly, confusion plastered over his face. "That was odd. She didn't do anything. She didn't even yell at me.

I'm scared."

James laughed as Sirius walked out of the Great Hall, a pig's tail slowly growing and his hair gradually turning turquoise.

...

Later, he found Lily, in a much better mood. "You weren't even mad, were you?" he asked.

"Nope," she said, leaning into him, "but we are anything but lame."

"Anything else?"

"Yesterday he put a hair removing charm in my shampoo. How he got to it, I have no idea, but I spent three hours trying to get it to grow back. This was payback."

"Ah, I see."

They were quiet for a while, until James said, "When do you think we should tell him that Lames is already a thing?"

Lily smiled. "Right after he comes up with a better name."

A little bit later, an ear-splitting scream was heard in the Gryffindor tower, Lily Evans took a spell off Sirius (since he forgot he was a wizard and that he could do it himself), James and Lily made their relationship known, bets were lost and won (Remus became two sickles richer), and Sirius Black came up with a new name.

"I dub thee -- or is it thou? --Jily!"
