song: White Demon Love Song by The Killers
WHITE DEMONS
"And that's when he said it was over between us," Hichigo's head dropped. All the girls gathered around his desk gasped then, all at once, tried to comfort him. This made the albino blush a little. He was unused to the pitying. He was always the more outgoing one, the more wild one, the more dominating one. Now Shirosaki had sank into himself, and everyone was pitying him for it.
"I don't understand. You and Ichigo were so great together," Rukia squealed as she flailed. No one understood why Kurosaki dumped Hichigo, but it bothered no one more than the albino himself.
"Yeah, that's what I thought too," Hichigo slouched over his desk, trying his best to block out any memories that might make him cry.
"Jeez, do you ever stop bitchin'?" Grimmjow exhaled. He let his feet drop off his desk before he just got up and walked out. Instantly, all the girls went from comforting Hichigo to scolding Grimmjow's crudeness. They kept telling Shirosaki to just not listen to the other guy and that they were there for him.
But that just hurt Hichigo more as he remembered all the times when Ichigo was hurt and the albino promised to be there for him. This feeling of pitifulness was surreal to him. In the past, it was Shirosaki who had always comforted Kurosaki.
Hichigo felt alone.
"White Demon widen your heart's scope. White Demon who let your friends go?" Hichigo sang along with the song on his iPod as he strolled down the hall, already late for class. That particular song he had sung the whole week as he sat in his pool of self-pity. Everyone else had practically forgot about it already. The fact that it became "old news" only worsened Shirosaki's depression.
Suddenly, Grimmjow sprang out of nowhere to block off Hichigo. There had been two people that Shirosaki had been avoiding the past week: Kurosaki and Jeagerjaques-he was still depressed about his break up with Ichigo, and Grimmjow constantly threw a fit at him for being whiny.
"You're still listening to that song?" Grimmjow clenched his teeth, leaning in slight toward the increasingly uncomfortable Hichigo. "Since your little break up, that's all you do. What the hell happened to you?"
Sighing, the albino tried to look unmoved by the other's remark, "Just leave me alone already."
"Seriously?" He seemed both baffled and pissed, "C'mon! The old Shiro would've at least punched me for saying that!"
Ignoring him, Hichigo tried to brush past Grimmjow, only to be shoved hard into the lockers.
Slamming a hand next to Shirosaki to make sure he knew he wasn't going anywhere, Jeagerjaques spoke angrily, "I haven't been able to get that damn song out of my head since you got all depressed. I can't think about anything but you singing it."
Then Grimmjow leaned in a little closer, his tone changing completely-the anger drained from it. He spat out desperately, "You're too soft."
Hichigo blushed as he felt the other's breath against his lips. As time slowed, his heartbeat began to beat louder and louder. For the first time, Grimmjow looked different. Shirosaki wanted more of whatever he was feeling. It felt so familar yet so different. It was just out of his reach and seemed to be taunting him to chase it.
"White Demon, where's your selfish kiss?" Grimmjow sang softly, his mouth lingering ever so close to the other's.
Unable to take it, Hichigo kissed and no longer felt alone.
