Goodnight
The small girl strolled down the dark street with only the pale moonlight to guide her path. She knew that it wasn't safe outside at night. The monster might get to her, but at that moment she couldn't help but wonder how something so beautiful could be so tragic.
Under the moonlight, she was sure he was even more glorious than in the daylight. Sand was sticking itself onto the edges of the girl's flowing nightgown. Her long dark hair even touched the ground, though it was in what was considered a fashionable bedtime hair style. The wind suddenly picked up, making whispers in the sand.
That was when she saw him, the monster.
Fear gripped her heart as she began to wish she hadn't left her warm bed. In terror she turned to flee. As she dashed though the street toward her large home she thought the strangest thought that night.
He looks soft in the moonlight…
Climbing the rope made of too many bed sheets, she realized that from her window she had a perfect view of the monster, no, boy on a roof not too far away from hers. The girl quickly pulled the rope from the window and set it in a wad somewhere in her spacious room before glancing back out the window. A harsh wind blew into the girl's room and ripped a pale blue ribbon from her hair making the black tresses trail even farther behind her.
The wind drew the ribbon to the feet of the boy, causing the girl to gasp. Startled, the boy stared at the window to see the girl whose eyes were as wide as saucers. "Gaara-sama…" The door of the girl's room flew open revealing her maid, Mei.
"Hotaru-sama, just where have you been all night? Get back to bed and maybe I won't inform your parents of this. Shoo, shoo, off to bed with you!" Hotaru sighed as she made her way to her oversized bed. "Now go to sleep. We will talk in the morning." With that, Mei turned out the lights and closed the door again. As soon as the door was shut Hotaru raced towards the window. "Gaara-sama, I…" The words died on her tongue as she realized that Gaara was nowhere to be seen.
"Oh, well, goodnight, Gaara…"
