Chapter one: Getting ready

Katara sat at the table in their home at Ba Singe Se. She looked at her hand mirror and fixed her make-up. She was getting ready for the masquerade festival at the lower tier. Each tier was having their own festival. They decided that other two would be boring if they went to the other two, seeing them as the ball kind of people.

She went to the bathroom to change. She came out with a long flowing dress. The top was light blue with the same v shape as her kimono but with black trim. The bottom of her skirt was black with red trim. She pulled her hair up in a puffy bum on top of her head and curled the top. She smiled at how different she looked. Then again… she thought, That might be a bad thing. She shrugged the thought off and put on her mask. It covered the top part of her face and was black with red long triangles over and under each eye.

The others had already gone to the party early, leaving Katara alone in the dark house. She used some spark rocks and turned some candles on. The other one had just burned out, leaving the house with an eerie glow around it. She looked at the moon through her window and spotted the silver moon shining brightly. She spotted a flash of blue. What was that? She thought as the blue dot got closer. "The blue spirit? " She asked as the blue dot came up to her and became clearer. The Blue Spirit lifted his hand and put it in front of the masks lips. "Shhh. " He said and ran on by.

Shaken, katara was relieved that she was wearing her mask. Leaving her mother's necklace behind, she walked on by to the Masquerade festival. She held her coin purse on her side. She looked up at the moon. Today I thought it would be the best day of my life, now I'm sure it will be the worst. She thought putting her feelings aside and put a mysterious look on her face. Not even Aang, toph, and sokka knew what she was going to look like.
