Pressure
Boiling Point
Still to this day, ever since the first when he was eighteen, Sephiroth knew he would never feel what felt with Genesis – for Genesis – with anyone else. Never would he proclaim that, he swore to the sky, not even when the fiery redhead lay shattered and content in his arms, drifting into a pleasant sleep as he listened to the steady beating of his lover's heart. Genesis could fall from affectionate bliss into intolerable cruelty like he was jumping from one hoop into another. The change was instantaneous. Sephiroth didn't want to open up, for the first time and for the last time, only to see glazed over eyes harden and those bruised lips curve into the most wicked of all smirks.
Unfortunately, Sephiroth didn't know that Genesis felt much the same. And Genesis would've spoken out, he wanted to whisper it in Sephiroth's ear between tender kisses or moan it out quietly when the burning in the back of his throat grew too much to bear, but he feared that Sephiroth would never understand the concept. Nor did he want Sephiroth to feel obliged to say the same just for the sake of not offending him…
Their relationship was complex, like an iceberg. Seemingly, sex was what it centred around but there was so, so much more just under the surface. Hidden from everyone.
And, no matter how blindingly obvious it was in each touch and glance, Sephiroth and Genesis remained oblivious to each other's emotions. Angeal was the only one who could pick up upon this, being such a close companion of theirs. He would sit there, not eavesdropping, just simply overhearing, as the couple conversed, and at every opportune moment to profess their love, they fell into awkward silence.
It was an interesting game to watch from the outside: the eternal battle of cat and mouse.
Which one was going to crack under the emotional pressure first?
