"The Color of Hope, Cure Vivid is Born!"
It was a perfect night for a storm. The dark sky was heavy with unrest as the clouds above were bloated with cold rain as they gathered together, smothering the Beryle Islands in a smooth darkness. The stars were snuffed out and the moon's silvery light was hidden beneath the storm clouds. However, even as the trembling sky gave way to the roaring thunder the Island's people were fast asleep; none bothered by the impending downpour.
Among the sleeping residence, Aiko Suzuki lay in her bed snuggled under her heavy blankets. Her deep sleep continued even when the storm finally broke, her snoring echoed in her bedroom. The crackling thunder and trembling lightening could not even wake her, Aiko was far into her own dream to pay much attention at such a storm. Truthfully, she would have stayed asleep until the morning sun rose had it not been for a strange sound that crashed against her back door that had finally shaken her awake.
The young girl shot out of bed with a gasp. "What was that?" She said, shooting a panicked look to her window.
She slide from her bed and tip toed to her back door, gulping as she approached the hinge of the door. She drew in a breath and held it, heaving as she pulled the heavy door aside. As she slide the window-like door open as a roaring clap of thunder shook the sky, making Aiko jump back as the heavy rain splattered into her room. She ran to her bed and snatched a blanket up to wrap around herself and then ran out onto her deck.
"Hello?" She called out, squinting her eyes through the rain. "Is anyone there?" Aiko surveyed her backyard, but there was no one in sight. She decided that a branch had hit her window and turned to head back to her warm bed. But as she did, a distraught fluttering caught her ear. She turned on her heal and saw a fluffy feathered bird hopping about on her deck. "Oh! You poor thing!" She ran to the animal and took it up in her arms, wrapping it in her blanket.
Aiko ran back inside and quickly shut the window and locked it. She climbed onto her bed and peered down at the bird. The little bird looked back up at her and chirped once. Aiko giggled, melting at the sweet birds chirps.
"You must be super scared because of that storm." She said. "But don't worry, you're safe now. It's warm here and I think I have a place for you." Aiko jumped from her bed, the bird still in her hand. She ran around her room, hoping to find a place for the little bird. "Oh, there it is!" She declared, running over to a bird cage that laid on the other end of her bedroom. "I'll put a blanket inside and than you can spend the night in here."
Aiko spent the next hour tearing and cutting pieces of fabric up and laying them neatly inside the bird cage. After setting down the final piece of cloth and deciding that it was good enough for the bird, Aiko set the little animal inside and placed the cage beside her bed. She knelt down and whispered into the cage.
"Sorry I couldn't give you anything better, but this is all I have for now." She said. "After school tomorrow I'll try and find you something better."
Aiko gently petted the top of the birds head, to which the bird chirped happily. Aiko stood up and stretched with a loud yawn, than crawled back into her bed. She settled under her blankets and said a final goodnight to the bird than fell right back into her sleep.
The next morning, the sun hovered over the Island bright and early. Despite the terrible storm from last night the Island looked as though nothing had ever happened. The streets where sparkling under the sun light and the Island's people were rising peacefully after a night of good rest.
Slumbering in her room, Aiko slept right through her first alarm clock and had it not been for her mother storming into her room, Aiko would have continued to sleep until late noon!
"Aiko!" Her mother said with a shout. She stormed over towards Aiko and pulled the covers off of her daughter. "You slept past your alarm again!" She said. "Wake up and get ready, now!"
"Uhh..." Aiko was groggy, sitting up with sleep still heavy in her eyes. Aiko ran her hand through the knots of her hair and shuffled out of her bed. She stood up with a stretch and looked to her mother. "What time is it?"
An grumbled. "Aiko."
"What, it's just it's so early!" Whined Aiko.
"Well, too bad. You need to go to school and I have to be at town hall in an hour. So, hurry up." An took Aiko by her shoulders and pushed her along to the bathroom. "Get dress and I'll make your bed." An said.
"Fine."
An quickly folded the blankets and fluffed the pillows, checking her wrist watch. "Aiko, hurry it's already eight!" She said, but did not get a reply. She sighed and turned, ready to march over to the bathroom. But as she made her way she tripped, her foot caught by something metal. "What the..." She uttered, looking down to find a gold bird cage on the floor. She grumbled once more. "Aiko!"
"What, I'm ready see." Aiko said, walking back into her room and dressed in her school uniform.
An picked the bird cage up and held it up before Aiko. "Young lady, what exactly is this?"
Aiko blinked at the sight, gulping as she tried to get her story straight. "Well, it's a bird cage."
"Aiko." Her mother hissed. "Did you get another pet without asking me?!"
"No!" Aiko said. "Last night a bird crashed into my window and the poor thing was fluttering around on the deck so I took it in. I made a little bed for it and-" She paused. "wait a minute." Aiko said, noticing that the cage was empty. She gasped and ran up to the cage. "Where's the bird?!"
An looked at the empty cage. "Oh, I didn't even notice it was empty. Well then, I guess that settles that." She turned around and set the cage down. "Oh and Aiko, don't place it by your bed."
"Hold on mom!" Aiko said. "The bird's gone!"
"Well, did you leave the window open?" An asked.
"Mom, my window's a giant sliding door why would I leave it open?" Said Aiko. She sighed, going over to the cage and kneeling in front of it. "Did you see it in the house?"
An pulled Aiko to her feet and began to push her along to the living room. "Trust me Aiko if I had seen a bird in this house again I would have woken you up with a scream."
Aiko crossed her arms, stepping away from her mother and sitting down on the couch. "Oh come on Mom, I took good care of my other birds."
An rolled her eyes, walking over to the front door and slipping her flats on. "Sure you did, now get your bag and put your shoes on. Let's go."
Aiko muttered under her breath, doing as she was told and accompanying her mother to the bus stop. There Aiko kissed her mother good bye and headed off to school. On her usual morning walk Aiko could not help, but think back to the little bird that had suddenly disappeared from her sight.
"I just don't get it, where could it have gone?" Aiko asked herself, pressing a finger to her cheek as she continued her walk. After thinking over every possible conclusion as to the birds disappearance, Aiko sighed in defeat. "Guess I'll never know." She said.
Aiko came to the end of the block, stopping as the crossing guard blocked her from crossing the street. Aiko waited for the on coming cars to stop, her mind still wandering to the little bird.
"Maybe she did escape." She said. "Ugh, Aiko just forget about it!" She whispered to herself, earning a peculiar stare from the crossing guard. Finally, the crossing guard raised her stop sign and allowed Aiko to pass. As Aiko walked onto the street she felt the ground tremble beneath her. "Hmh?" She hummed in question.
"Miss, please keep moving." Said the crossing guard to Aiko.
"Oh, right." Aiko began and was ready to walk, when the trembling grew worse.
At first, Aiko thought that maybe it was all in her head. But when she looked to the crossing guard and saw her worried glance, she knew it was real. The trembling stretched across the streets of the Island, rocking Aiko's footing along with the other passersby. Soon it grew from a subtle rocking into a full blown shaking; lamp post and cars rocking by it's strength.
"W-what's going on?!" Aiko said with a shout.
Neither her nor any of the other residence understood what was happening. Earthquake's were normal and at first many thought that perhaps this was one, but something about it seemed very off. But than came the screeching. Like a loud animal had been stabbed and left to suffer, it's cries ringing out across the Island.
Hearing the piercing scream Aiko turned on her heel, eyes searching in the direction of the cry. She looked on waiting for something, for anything to happen. The ground continued to shake terribly and at this point many were beginning to panic and while Aiko was feeling her own heart begin to race, she felt as though the worst was yet to come.
She was right. Aiko looked on still and just as she felt clueless, an awful creature filled her sight. Off in the distance, growing closer to her path, Aiko gawked at the massive monster that stomped across her Island. The monster was well pass her height and had heavy fangs that hung from it's mouth and it's heavy set jaw dangled open as it cried out once more.
"What...what is that thing!" Aiko fell into full panic, along with those around her. Within a few steps the monster was even closer, it's whole body in full view. Aiko froze at it's size, too scared to even scream!
One, two, three more steps and then the creature was towering over Aiko. The monster looked down, red eyes peering at the small girl before it. Aiko gulped, teeth sinking into her lip as she tried not to cry out. The monster drew in a breath, a deep sound gurgling in the back of it's throat. Than the creature threw it's head back, jaw flying open as vicious red beam erupted from it's throat.
The beam light the surrounding sky with a bright red light, dying the area around Aiko a crimson glow. Aiko jumped with a shout and without a second thought she ran. Aiko raced down the streets not daring to look back in fear that the beast would catch her. But she could still see the glow of the beam and her heart raced even more, when would the monster attack?
"I gotta go, gotta find a safe place!" She said, panting. She kept running while her mind kept racing with questions she could not answer. She wanted to find safety and she was sure that it was near, but then the beast attacked.
The red beam came hurdling at Aiko and she had no clue until it was too late. The heat of the beam closed in on her and the glow of the light began to blind her. Aiko held her breath, shutting her eyes at the approaching light and bracing herself. As the light closed in she was tackled and swept away as the beam crashed against the concrete ground and exploded. Aiko rolled against the streets, groaning as she lay on the ground. She coughed and blinked a few times, eyes opening and searching the area around her.
"What just happened?" She asked aloud. Someone was with her, she could feel the light pressure of a hand pressed on her hip. Aiko looked to her left where her eyes fell on an unfamiliar face. "H-Hello?"
A girl knelt by Aiko's side, not looking down at her but rather to the monster. She seemed rather odd, but Aiko could not tell why. Her eyes were striking and her blonde her was a bit messy, her white shirt clung to her skin and her matching white skirt flowed lightly in the wind.
"Please stay back." She said.
Aiko meant to speak to her, but before she could manage to get a word out the girl lunged towards the monster! Aiko was taken back and all she could do was watch, starring wide eye. The monster stomped around the corner roaring as though it had been angered. It came around the block sniffing at the air and locking it's eyes onto Aiko. The mysterious girl kept her gaze fixed to the beast, arm winding back as she jumped up and brought her fist down onto the monster.
She dug her fist against the beast's head, the creature stumbling back with a rage-filled cry. The girl moved back, floating in the sky without wings and eyed down the monster. Aiko felt her jaw drop with awe, who was this girl?
The monster shook it's head as though trying to regain itself. It roared and lunged at the girl, thrashing it's clawed hands at her, but the girl dodged it's pathetic attacks. The girl flew higher into the sky and her palm began to glow with a golden light, she grit her teeth and than soared down, fist aimed once more at the monster.
Just then, the monster snapped it's head back, mouth gaped open and pointed at the girl. The monster powered a beam and in seconds sent it launching at the girl. The girl was caught off guard, the beam blasting towards her with such a speed she had no time to react. The girl threw her arms up shielding herself the best she could against the attack. However, she was consumed by the blast and the only thing she could was cry out.
"No!" Aiko cried, jumping to her feet and running towards the girl. The girl fell, looking lifeless and had it not been for Aiko, she would have slammed against the ground. But Aiko fell to her knees, sliding under her and catching her. "Oh my gosh! Are you ok?!"
"Mhm..." The girl groaned, face flinching.
"Ugh, what a dumb question! Of course you're not ok!" Aiko shouted aloud. The monster roared reminding Aiko that a very real threat was looming. "I'll take you to safety!"
Aiko rose to her feet, heaving as she kept the girl in her arms. She huffed, turning around and running as far as she could, looking for safety. Her arms shook, not from the weight of the girl, but from utter fear. She could hear the monster, the ground shaking once again and Aiko could not find any place safe enough to hide.
"Help!" Aiko cried out, desperate to be free from the monster's path.
Aiko looked around herself, the streets were empty and the few homes around her looked empty as well. Somehow she had managed to run from the main neighborhoods and saw the heavy Island jungle before her. She gulped and began to run towards the jungles hoping to find a hiding place, but from the corner of her eye she could see that the monster had crept up on her. Aiko darted into the heavy jungle, stumbling over vines and running through dense plants.
Inside Aiko found a remote part among the trees and tangled plants. Aiko gulped than dove towards the plants, kneeling down and keeping her breathing low. From behind the heavy leaves she could see the monster stomp along the jungle floors, it's webbed feet capturing loose leaves. The monster sniffed the air, searching for her. It came close, smelling at the plants she hid behind. Aiko held her breath praying she was not discovered.
The monster sniffed once more, heaving out a heavy breath as it went to turn away. She sighed lowly, careful to keep silent. The girl in her arms was still unmoving, unconscious, but slowly beginning to stir. The girl groaned and Aiko tensed.
"No, no, no, stay quiet." Aiko whispered.
"Where..." The girl groaned. She opened her eyes, rubbed her temples and than jolted from her arms with a panicked shout. "What's going on!"
Aiko jumped at her, pressing her hands to the girls mouth and shushed her. "Shh!"
The monster growled, turning back towards the plants that hide the girls. The monster stepped slowly towards them, growling louder as it approached. The monster sniffed at the plants, the girls tense and silent. The beast sniffed once more at the pants, but it turned away and the girls sighed with relief.
"Safe..." Aiko sighed.
But she was not. The beast tore the plants aside with a flick of it's tail revealing the two frightened girls. The monster turned around roaring at them and snapping it's mouth as it readied to attack. The mysterious girl jumped to her feet, her bawled fist beginning to glow. But Aiko pulled her hand back and shook her head.
"No!" Aiko said. "You can't fight it, it nearly tore you apart!"
The girl snatched her hand back. "Just get out of here and leave this to me!"
But Aiko protested. "No way, you're coming with me!" Aiko jumped to her feet and snatching the girls arm ran away from the monster.
The girl dug her heels into the ground, pulling Aiko to a halt. "I'm not running away, this beast needs to be stopped or else someone will get hurt!"
"You'll get hurt, again!" Aiko snapped.
The girl growled, sneering at Aiko. "Run if you want to, but I'm doing something about this." The girl turned her back on Aiko and faced the approaching monster. She raised both of her arms, palms out and aimed at the creature.
The monster loomed closer with it's mouth open and glowing with the same red beam as before. But the girl did not falter, she stood her ground. Aiko was trembling, however, she was frightened, but something within her kept her from running.
"Fine, if you won't leave then I won't let you get hurt!" Aiko jumped in front of her, arms stretched out wide like a shield.
"It's about to attack, move!" The girl grabbed Aiko, ready to push her away. But Aiko turned and shoved the girl back then faced the monster once more.
"I won't watch you hurt yourself!"
"No, you don't know what you're doing! You have to run!" The girl cried.
The monster unleashed it's attack, Aiko standing foolishly in it's way. Yet, the attack did not harm her, it did not even touch her. Just as the beam drew close, a bright blue light exploded outwards from around Aiko. The light acted like a shield and pushed back against the monster's attack until it completely snuffed it out. Aiko stood still, eyes wide in awe. Aiko was a glow with a magnificent blue light.
"No way..." The girl said. She quickly dug into her skirt's pocket and retrieved a blue compact. She ran up to Aiko. "Hey, take this!" She tossed the compact.
Aiko turned, catching the compact in her hand with a puzzled eye. "What is this?" In her hands the compact glowed a bright blue the same as the light surrounding her. She felt her heart tremble and suddenly her mind cleared. "Right, let's do this! Color Compact-Rainbow Form!"
Aiko was transported into a stream of endless light. She floated through the stream with the compact in hand and threw her arm out, opening the compact up. She removed her hand from beneath it, allowing the compact to float and a light shot out of it. Aiko moved her arms through the light, white cuffs forming around her wrist. She snatched the compact, twirled it on the tip of her finger and aimed it's light on her torso. A navy blue vest swirled around her torso replacing her uniform top. She moved the compact over her legs and a soft blue skirt appeared. She tossed the compact high above her and bathed under it's light, her messy black hair swirling up into a neat bun, a blue and white bow tying it in place. She clicked her heels and ankle boots appeared.
Aiko twirled and landed on her feet, one leg up as she leaned back with an arm held out in front of her. She grinned. "The light that shines in the dimmest of darkness, Cure Vivid!"
The light faded and Aiko, now Cure Vivid, emerged. She looked herself over with awe and than shot a glaring eye at the beast. She lunged forward, hand held back as she readied a punch. She dove her fist against the beast, sending it back without mercy. She jumped back, mouth agape.
"So cool!" She said. Vivid jittered, amazed at herself. She lunged again a the beast and dug her heal against it. The monster tried to fight back, wacking her aside. Vivid crashed against the ground, but she quickly picked herself up again. She hit the beast with a fury of punches, driving it to the ground. Vivid jumped back. "What now."
"Cleanse it!" The girl shouted at her.
"Cleanse it?" She repeated in question. Vivid thought for a moment, than it became clear. "Ok, here goes nothing!" Vivid raised her hands to her hear, clapped twice then her palms started to glow. Two rainbow colored disc appeared in her hands, Vivid shot her arms out on either side of her. "Pretty Cure-Vivid Colors!" She shot the disc out, sending them hurling towards the monster.
The disc crashed against the beast, stabbing against it's roughened skin. Than the disc exploded consuming the monster inside a rainbow colored orb. The creature cried as it was defeated, the light bursting out into a stream of small glittering light. The only thing left behind was a small red lizard. Vivid knelt before the lizard and scooped it up into her hands.
"Hey little guy, you alright?" She said with a smile.
The girl from before tackled Vivid, hugging her tightly. "That was so cool!"
Vivid giggled, setting the lizard free. "Thanks, but..." She paused, sighing. "Ok...what just happened?!"
The girl laughed, patting Vivid's head. "No worries, I'll explain everything!"
And just like that, the danger was gone. Aiko or Cure Vivid now, was left with more questions than she had earlier and the mysterious girl was still, well, mysterious. But after defeating such a creature, Vivid's fears were gone. For now.
However something even more threatening awaited her. Vivid did not know it now, but this was just the beginning. And watching her from the shadows another threat lingered.
"Mhm." A young girl huffed. "Looks like things just got interesting."
End Card: Beat, Vivid, Pearl, and Willow wave to the audience as little chibis and the count down to the dance sequence ends.
